Carey Mulligan has the gamine-chic look down pat, and her makeup look at the 2011 Hollywood Film Awards was the perfect example on how to do it right. When creating her look for the gala, makeup artist Georgie Eisdell (who has also worked with stars such as Saoirse Ronan and Christina Hendricks) explained, "I wanted it to be all eyes, eyebrows, and perfect skin." Want to see how she achieved it? Then, just keep reading.
Complexion: Eisdell started Carey's look with an application of Laura Mercier Moisturizing foundation, powdering lightly with La Mer the Powder.
Eyes: "I wanted to capture the sophistication of Carey's look in her eyes, so I used my new favorite product, Chanel's Illusion d'Ombre in Mirifique, on her eyelids, blending into a soft but striking smoky eye," explained Eisdell. Next, she used a touch of Illusion d'Ombre in Fantasme over the top along with a bit under the outer corners of the eyes to catch the light. For added drama, she then applied several layers of YSL Faux Cils mascara to Carey's lashes and defined her brows with a brow pencil.
Cheeks and lips: To finish, Dior Rosebud blush was applied to Carey's cheeks with Nars Hungry heart dabbed on top for sparkle. And to top it all off, Chanel's Glossimer in Wild Rose lent a touch of color to Carey's lips.
