From the runways to the red carpet, exaggerated winged eye makeup has risen as the makeup look of the moment. And last night the trend made an appearance at the Les Misérables premiere in New York, thanks to Amanda Seyfried. She paired her embellished Alexander McQueen gown with an equally overstated eye look. Try this geometric shadow to elongate and lift the eye without appearing too weighed down.
The first step to mimicking this eye makeup is to draw a winged outline with an eye pencil. Draw a line from the middle of the lower lashes through the outer corner of the eye and upwards to meet the orbital bone. Draw another line from the midway of the top lash line and connect it with the other line coming from your lower lash line. Fill in the shape and clean up smudges using a Q-tip saturated with makeup remover. To intensify and set the color, go back over it with dark eye shadow. Finally, highlight with a golden shade. Apply underneath the eyes, in the inner corners, and up to the crease on the innermost lid.
Complement this high-flying eye makeup with subtle cheeks and lips. Amanda's slicked-back braid puts her eyes in the spotlight where they belong.
