Are You Applying Your Eye Makeup the Wrong Way?

Eye shape is important: just like choosing shades to wear for pink and yellow undertones or what hair color will look best with your skin tone, knowing your eye shape can help you to create the most flattering look for a wedding, a night out, or just for a day at the office.

There are five predominately popular eye shapes: almond eyes, monolids, round eyes, downturned eyes, and hooded lids. To find out your eye shape, ask yourself these two questions: 1) do you have a crease? and 2) is it visible?

If your crease isn't visible, you have hooded lids (crease is hidden) or monolids (no crease at all). If you answered that your crease is visible, you have downturned, almond, or round eyes. Almond and round eye shapes can get confused because they look similar, but the trick is determining if your iris touches the top and bottom eyelid. If it does, you have almond eyes; round eyes have more white space around the iris.

From here, you can learn how to enhance your eye shape! Keep watching to learn to elongate your eyes, give them depth, or give them a lift, depending on the shape.
