Apply Dry Shampoo as a Prep

Before you start, you'll want to prep hair by applying a dry shampoo or texturizing spray to the hair. Be sure to wait for the product to dry in hair before styling.

Curl Hair For Even More Texture

Even if you don't plan on wearing your hair in tight tendrils, use a one-inch curling iron and curl hair. If you're going for beachy waves, keep the ends of the hair out of the iron, otherwise curl all the way to the ends and brush to finish.

Hair rollers will help you achieve big Hollywood waves. Start by wrapping textured and curled sections of hair around rollers, then clip into place. (Keep in mind the size of the roller — smaller ones will give you tight curls.) Finish with hair spray to set.

Tease Hair For Volume

If you have fine and limp hair, back-combing hair will give it that extra dose of volume needed. Once you've achieved maximum height at the roots, lightly go over the top of the hair with a bristle comb to smooth.
