How to Save Broken Blush

How to Salvage Your Broken Blush

Whoever decided bathroom floors should be tiled is officially the enemy of beauty addicts. Even if you're supercareful, it's easy to make one little slip during your morning routine and drop your favorite powder blush. You know the feeling — you pick up the compact, adrenaline racing, and carefully open it. If it's intact, you breathe a sigh of relief. If not . . . your heart breaks into a million pieces, just like the blush. All is not lost, though. You have two options: you can reset the powder or transform it into something totally new.

To reset, mix a small amount of rubbing alcohol into the blush. There's no correct amount; just add little by little until the product has fully absorbed it. Then stir the blush with a toothpick. The shards should turn into a paste as you mix it. Once all chunks are fully smoothed out, flatten your mixture as best you can, and let it set overnight. The blush should be totally restored (though it might not look as cute as before), and it will work just as it did before the damage.

To transform it, take whatever blush fragments you can save and put them into a small resealable jar, crushing any pieces so it becomes a finely milled powder. Add a small amount of petroleum jelly, adding more as needed to convert your powder blush into a cream formula. Vaseline seriously works wonders!

These two processes work on bronzers, eye shadows, and just about any pressed powder product you can think of, but we recommend avoiding this process entirely by getting a soft, cushy rug for your bathroom.

I'm totally too thrifty and much older. I turn all my bits into powder and apply as usual. If you don't like vaseline use other potted clear glosses; works just as well. Eyeshadows do the same, mix them up you can come up with some great colors.

this is a great tips for broken makeup...for me it's similar to my broken semi-powder that had fallen to the floor accidentally ... i mix it up with clear lip gloss or lip balm to be nude shade lip gloss & it's great! don't have to buy new nude lip gloss ^^

You can also completely pulverize the broken blush and turn it into a loose powder blush.

Another tip: If its a newish blush and you bought it from a department store makeup counter, you can *almost* always return it. They are always really good about replacing items that have been damaged.

careful!!! many blushes are not formulated to be consumed! I would higly suggest not doing this unless you know your blush is safe. Since it is made to be on face and not lips they put things in it that they dont put in lipstick.
