Turquoise-washed eyes are a big deal this season, as designers like Oscar de la Renta, Preen, and L'Wren Scott all sent models down the runways recently donning aquamarine lids. And while it may be a tricky look for most people, the results can be gorgeous. Makeup artist Shalini Vadhera, who has worked with stars like Malin Akerman and Brooke Burke, has a couple of tips to share for getting bold, blue eye makeup right. See what she has to say when you keep reading.
- Ease into it with a sheer: "If you want to get curious about a trend without being committed to it, just use a sheerer version of the color," explains Vadhera. If you find yourself drawn to a particular shade of turquoise, she recommends using it as a wash across the entire lid, applying with a softer, fuller brush for a sheer application. Complete the look with several coats of black mascara (no eyeliner needed) and nude lips and cheeks.
- Just go for it: Another great way to wear turquoise is by doing the total opposite. Vadhera suggests pairing "a bright pop of turquoise liner across the top lids, or even on the insides of the eye" with gold-toned cheeks and a soft peach lip color.
