Jennifer Aniston Perfume Ad For Lolavie 2010-04-16 10:30:12

Jennifer Aniston's Perfume Story Is "Too Personal to Tell"

When it comes to her perfume, Jennifer Aniston has something to reveal — and something to hide. Rumors swirled that it would be called "Aniston," but Jennifer's debut scent will be known as Lolavie. The fragrance ($46-$62) will launch in the UK this June, followed by a stateside rollout later.

Jennifer, who grew up wearing scents such as Miss Dior and Anais Anais, says she was aiming for a "nonperfume perfume" inspired by her love of the outdoors. "I want people to go, 'What is that? You smell great!' But most of all I wanted it to smell natural," she told WWD. To that end, she says the scent is "sexy and clean" and "floral, but not too flowery."

Although she gave WWD those hints about the scent, she's staying mysterious about the story behind the fragrance's name. "It’s a long story and honestly it's too personal to tell," she said. "But it has special significance." For the rest of the details, read more.

A story too personal to tell? Hmm. WWD notes the name's phonetic similarity to the French phrase "l'eau la vie" — and the ad campaign's prominent ocean views support that theory. I'm choosing to believe that Jen's a secret Nabokov scholar who wanted to give a quiet nod to Lolita. Surely nobody will use this private story as a chance to speculate on Jen's romantic life. Any theories on your end?

It might be "lola vie" or initials for something but my best guess is LOL a vie (laughing out loud at life) she's had the whole publicity drama romance thing and perhaps one day she just said, "nevermind it all--just laugh and let it go and accept life as weird and crazy"The fragrance sounds very appealing and I wish her (and Brad and Angelina and ALL the involved children, biological, adopted, born, and unborn) all the best. They are all extremely talented, human, flawed, and they certainly are a lesson in doing your best, making mistakes and doing your best with them. Plus "laughing out loud at life" seems to fit the fragrance description.

What she was planning to name her child? Who knows. I feel like she's just trying to be mysterious.

wish they could have named the notes. i doubt i would seek this out to smell. celeb fragrances always smell so generic.

Gerard Butler has a pug named "Lolita". Maybe that's part of her inspiration as she doesn't strike me as someone that's particularly deep.

The way she describes it makes me think it's going to be safe. Clean, fresh, and with some feminine florals thrown in for good measure. I'd like something more unique.. but I guess it fits her personality. I don't think she takes many risks with her hair/clothes. Classic and elegant, but wish she would do more.
