Just How Old Is Your Oldest Beauty Tool?

Maybe it's your pricey flat iron, maybe a curling iron you use twice a year, but some products prove well worth the investment. While I'm too clumsy to hang onto anything fragile (and ceramic), my friend still uses her flat iron from high school! Jealous. I know there are times when an electric beauty tool works so well, it outlasts any warranty so tell me the shelf life of your oldie-but-goodie (then share what it is in the comments below).

I got a new blow dryer and hair straightener around the same time a little over a year ago. I'm kinda upset because the straightener is already beginning to not work very well, and of course it is passed it's one year warranty, and it wasn't cheap. The hair dryer still works great though.

I have a curling iron that is probably 3 years old, that is my oldest appliance, I can never seem to make my straightener last more than a year and a half.

3 years. but only because i've been leaving on my own (read: not using my mum's stuff) for the last 3 years.

I normally air dry my hair so it's no surprise that my hair dryer is about 8 years old. However, I think I'm due for a new one because it just frizzes the hell out of my hair when I do use it. I mean, it cost me 15 bucks! It's bound to be terrible or that I just have no idea what I'm doing.

I bought a cheapo Revlon hair dryer in my freshman year of college and 10 years later, it's still going strong. Like many other people have mentioned, though, it doesn't get used often which may contribute to it never getting worn out. I usually always air-dry my hair.

I have a rat tailed comb that is from the late 80's. Some of the teeth have broken off but it still works. I use it daily!

I can't remember if I have anything older, but I bought a ceramic iron 4 years ago that I still use.

My mother gave me her old hairdryer from back when I was a kid- 9 years later, it's still going strong! Plus I love having it because it was my mum's!

I have a curling iron, a flat iron, & a blowdryer that I bought about the same time. Ironically, soon after buying the curling iron & the flat iron I had my hair pixie cut & didn't use either one for ages. I still haven't used the curling iron since, hah.

My hair dryer is about 5-6 years old. I don't use it very often, so I'm sure it'll be around for a few more years.

I have thick, greek hair and run through flat irons like crazy! I'd love to invest in a good one, but am nervous that it might not last long enough to justify the cost.

i have an eyeliner sharpener from Aloette that has got to be 10 or 15 years old at least. it was my moms and somehow i got ahold of it, and it's ancient. it's amazing though. it has a little compartment to hold the shavings and it works like a dream...it never cracks my pencil and always makes a nice point my flat iron and blowdryer are both within 6 months old, but they were a good investment so hopefully will last for a long long time! my flat brush is about 3 years old, too, and i don't know what i'd do without it!

My flat iron (technically a smoother since it is felt) I've had and use about 2 times a week for about 5 years now. Unfortunately, the felt is starting to wear off so I will probably be looking for a new one later this year.

I have had the same travel hair dryer since about 1995. I suspect it has lasted as long as it has because it only gets used a couple of times a year.
