Katy Perry at 2011 MTV VMAs 2011-08-28 18:02:17

VMAs: Katy Perry

We've been anxiously awaiting Katy Perry's arrival — and the pop star didn't disappoint. Channeling a playfully Asian-inspired style, Katy opted for a beaded, cutout kimono minidress and a sweet parasol, then finished with candy-pink heels that incidentally matched her hot-pink locks. It's a bold look for Miss Perry, but we wouldn't expect anything less — do you love it?

For some reason I like her in jewel tone colors. Pastels is just blah on her.

She would cute minus the 'props.' Pop stars need to stop trying so hard.

That is a CHEONGSAM (or qipao), which no way in hell looks like a kimono. Japanese =/= Chinese. Please get your facts right

Lounytoon is right, that is in no way a kimono. It's an interpretation of a Chinese cheongsam. Come on, anyone can tell it's NOT a kimono. #fail

Please correct your posting. While KP's outfit is certainly inspired by Asian clothing, it is definitely nothing similar to a Japanese kimono. It is a modern interpretation of a Chinese "chipao", and I'm sure that the rest of your readers will notice the difference as well.
