It’s holiday party crunch time, and Katy Perry showed how to master a festive, standout look on the red carpet at the 15th NRJ Music Awards at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, on Saturday — before she took home the International Song of the Year Award for “Roar.” The pop star pulled her dark locks back in a sleek, high braided bun with a long plaited ponytail extending out of it. We love how she paired it with her signature sultry, black eyelash flutter, shiny cranberry pout, and exotic, dangling earrings (with stones that subtly picked up her lip color).
Take a stab at a spinoff of this hairstyle by flipping your head upside down and pulling your mane into a high ponytail. Slick back any fly-aways with a bit of gel and a hard-bristled brush. Pull out a one-inch section, and braid it, then wrap it around the base of the ponytail, and secure with a few bobby pins. Next, plait the tail of your pony, and secure with a rubber band that matches your hair hue. Leave about one to two inches free at the bottom, and run a flatiron over to smooth it. Mist with hairspray, and get ready to receive mega compliments!
