"Shimmer, shine and sheen" are just marketing terms. They all mean the same thing: the gloss reflects light in a specular way (where all the light coming in at one angle reflects at an equal and opposite angle) as opposed to a diffuse way (where the light bounces around before reflecting, the way that matte lipsticks work). Here are some definitions (from dictionary.com): shimmer: to shine with or reflect a subdued, tremulous light; gleam faintly. shine: to be bright with reflected light; glisten; sparkle. sheen: luster; brightness; radiance. luster: the state or quality of shining by reflecting light; glitter, sparkle, sheen, or gloss So...maybe shimmer has glitter in it or something, but it still just a product name.

Hey Belladande, I wanted to clarify that shine means that it reflects light and sheen refers to the brightness and lustre of the gloss. I hope this helps.

I love the lip plumpers, they definitely are addictive. Looking forward to trying out the Laura Mercier.

I second kaenai - my lips don't need plumping, so I always feel a bit left out. But these sound good regardless, if only to play with at Sephora... Also - maybe sheen is sort of opalescenty, while shine is more just glossy? It does seem like a strange sort of distinction to make...

I always feel left out of the lip-plumping craze; if I were to wear them, I'd look like someone punched me in the mouth, so I miss out on a lot of product. :( @ belladande :: I think sheen is just a sort of moderate gloss, whereas shine is gloss. At least, that's what I think it is. :)

What's the difference between shine and sheen?

the colors look pretty but i really don't need a lip plumper so i'm not sure if i'd give this a try or not

That violet color looks so pretty! I love it. I HATE tingling lip plumpers (Lip Venom is the worst product in the world to me), but if these only tingle for a couple of seconds, I could probably handle them. Gorgeous colors.
