Leighton Meester Smoky Eye Makeup Tutorial 2009-12-07 14:00:54

How-To: Leighton Meester's Jingle Ball Smoky Eyes

There's no denying that Leighton Meester is one of the most experimental ladies in Hollywood when it comes to trying out bold makeup shades. In fact, we've seen the Gossip Girl sport everything from ruby red lipstick with bronzed eyes to an intense navy eye to a porcelain doll look. Over the weekend at KISS FM’s annual Jingle Ball in LA, the actress looked absolutely gorgeous wearing a charcoal-and-gold smoky eye, paired with a bright pink gloss. Blending warms with cools, along with a bit of shimmer, is perfect for any holiday event. To get my tips on re-creating this festive look, just keep reading.

  • Eyes: Apply a neutral matte shadow from the lashes to the brows. Try Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in Vintage Lace ($4.50). Next, sweep on a shimmery gold shadow to the inner lids and top and bottom corners of the eyes, like Bare Escentuals Eye Color ($13) in Queen Phyllis or True Gold. Line the upper and lower waterline with a generous application of black gel eyeliner. For that intense smoky look, go for a charcoal-gray shade on the creases and the bottom lash lines, such as Bare Escentuals Minerals Shadow Liner in Luxe ($13).
  • Tips: Use the neutral matte shade to blend out any harsh edges.
  • Lips: Balance it all out with an application of bright pink gloss, like Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss ($20) in Rosy.

lovely look & not too many shadows to pull the look off =D

She has deep set eyes, so most shadows give an intense look. She could just put one shade of brown in the crease, and it would still look like she put effort into it. I'd use Ulta Naked shadow with MAC Typographic.
