Love It or Hate It? Udo Edling's Retro Couture

At his couture show in Paris, German designer Udo Edling sent his models down the runway in retro finger wave hairstyles, blueish-red lips and a strong, smoky eye. It's not something I'd try myself, but I like the glamour of it. What do you think?

I'm so into that high-maintenance old school glamour thing. This isn't wearable obviously because it's too much makeup but the inspiration is fantastic. I'd do a smoky eye with a nude lip or a darker lip with a light colored eye shadow. Then I'd probably loosen up the waves, but I think she looks cool and in control.

I don't know...I voted "love it" because I totally appreciate and enjoy the glamor of it, in a theatrical way. However, if I applied this look, I'd just look like an idiot. Or maybe a serial killer.

hm looks good for maybe a group of pretty marlene dietrich type women, but if that becomes fashion/trend then I think it'd be horrible...not everyone looks good unless its actually 1948.

The hair looks cute but that makeup makes her look 95 years old

As my mom used to say, "You look like a clown!"Way too much makeup here. The hair would be ok if she had more of it. Looks like her hairline is receding.Big no!

everything about it just looks hideous. remember that one basic rule about picking one feature and focusing on that? yeah. COLOR OVERLOAD. and dont forget how the hair just looks weird! its an insult to any form of beauty standard. (~_~)

I'd like the finger wave style on longer hair. Regarding make-up I think this is intentionally overstated from what you'd ever do in real life. You could achieve a 20's era retro couture effect by using a more subtle version of the smokey eye and dark red On the right girl it's a very cool, mysterious, sexy look.

Well, If you soften up the eye makeup and hair it would look awesome with what I have seen on the Fall Runways.

GROSS! It's all wrong...so wrong. The model's face is too long and too structured for something like this. Either way, I would never wear my makeup OR hair like that.

Love it for the runway, would definitely need to be toned down/softened for real life.

I like it, but I don't think it translates in real life. It is too harsh for daylight, but could work at night with the right clothes.
