Lupita Nyong'o Hair and Makeup at Oscars 2014

Is Lupita Nyong'o the Princess of the Oscars Red Carpet?

Three words to describe Lupita Nyong'o's Oscars look: Grecian, glamorous, and gorgeous! The best supporting actress winner wore a custom Prada gown, and her hair was adorned with an 18-karat yellow-gold and diamond headband by Fred Leighton. Her short Afro had a few inches of extra height, but her hairline was shaved superlow (any man would be envious of those straight lines).

As for makeup, Nick Barose took care of the job, giving Lupita an Old Hollywood look. "I took elements from classic movie stars like Liz Taylor — who was known for her cat eye — without being too heavy-handed about it," he said. Her lids were covered in a soft gray shadow, and Barose used a Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Or Rose ($32) on the lower lash line to brighten the eyes.

On lips, Barose went with Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Mélodieuse ($35). But first he added a darker brown lipstick around the edges and the cupid's bow to give the sheer shade more depth. Then, he added two coats of the peachy gloss and more liner for precision.

Manicurist Deborah Lippmann used her pale pink polish, La Vie en Rose ($18), for Lupita's manicure.

We were counting down the days until Lupita debuted her Oscars red carpet look, and we want to know: Was it worth the wait? Did she nail it?
