Marissa Webb Gives Cool Girls Two Perfect Hairstyles

Feb 6 2014 - 3:35pm

The girl at Marissa Webb [1] was a perfect mix of uptown chic and downtown cool. Inspired by the structured clothes in the collection [2], lead hairstylist Jeanie Syfu wanted to create a style that was effortlessly chic without looking too perfect. To achieve this, she created two different hairstyles: a matte, wavy look and an oversize, textured topknot. Both were created using Tresemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse [3] ($6) to give them hold. Waves were made using two sizes of curling irons in opposite directions to create an irregular shape. But the trick to the topknot? "Plenty of dry shampoo," Syfu says. She raked the hair up using her fingers, then gently massaged baby pieces around the face for texture.

The makeup was decidedly neutral, focusing on blush tones and glosses. Lead makeup artist Alice Lane for Maybelline wanted the models to look approachable but with an edge. She used Maybelline Face Studio Master Glaze [4] ($8) to warm up the face and then worked Fit Me Blush [5] ($5) over the eyes. Nails also had an edge, starting with a pink or blue base before being topped with a burgundy stripe.
