Hey it's Kirbie with your Bella Beauty Beat. At the Met Gala this year, the biggest trend was dark, nearly black lipstick. And while spring is traditionally for lighter colors, the stars proved that some beauty rules are meant to be broken. We first saw dark lips for spring on the Prabal Gurung and Donna Karan runways. And at the Met Gala everyone from Amber Valletta to Jessica Alba, showed off their take on the look for one of fashion's biggest nights. One of the most dramatic looks of the night belonged to Camilla Belle. The actress when for a 1920's inspired look with deep Cabernet lips. But if you're looking for this exact color, you're going to make it yourself. Because Camilla told us she wore not one not two, but three shades went in together to create her own custom shade. Amber Valletta is a fixture at the annual gala and this year she nailed the dark lip trend on the head. The model The less is more look pairing barely flushed cheeks with blood red lipstick which picked up the red and pink tones in her Prada gown. Kate Bosworth also went for a vampy lip choosing NARS matte lipstick in Volga, she let her lips take center stage, keeping the rest of her look subtle but strong with contoured cheek and perfectly shaped brow. I love how she masters strong lip shade with the fringe of her dress and the sequined clutch. Singer Lana Del Ray is definitely having a moment and she soaked up the spotlight with a classic look. her Altuzarra cape and defined maroon lips made a statement against her soft features and fair complexion. She tempered the bold look with soft voluminous Jessica Alba looked like a gold goddess in Michael Kors. She complimented her olive skin tone with a blood red lipstick and soft waves with a dramatic side Putting an old Hollwood on the Grecian one shoulder gown. And they weren't the only ones to go dark Leighton Necester, Jessica Chastain, and Rooney Mara all selected a dramatic lip color, keeping the Spring 2012 runway trend alive.
