"I'm flashing back to when I first met Narciso at Calvin [Klein] in the early '90s, and we used to joke that every season we had to come up new ways to do nothing," said makeup artist Dick Page of the look at Narciso Rodriguez's Spring 2014 show. To achieve a no-makeup facade, Page mixed multiple mediums. For cheeks, he created a custom shade with Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Metalrose and Hellebore (launching this Spring). He also blended out the eyeliner with moisturizer and diluted brown mascara with clear gel to achieve a more transparent feeling.
The hair was meant to mimic a second-day blowout with very little curl or wave. Lead hairstylist Paul Hanlon finished it with Moroccanoil Treatment Light (from $17) to give a piecey feel (but not grunge). Deborah Lippmann used only one coat of Pretty Young Thing Nail Color ($17) for a subtle hue, followed by a matte topcoat to take away any prettiness.
