Natural Deodorant Options

Neo Deo: The Rise of Natural Deodorant

Natural deodorants have been around forever, but since antiperspirant came along they've been relegated to the personal care aisle at the hippie grocery co-op nearest you. Now, though, they seem to be gaining back lost ground, with a new wave of effective, beautifully scented, and nicely priced options designed to appeal to those of us who've never driven an old VW bus around the country. Take these cute Mbeze Deodorette sticks ($10), for example. Small enough to put in your pocket and packaged like makeup instead of deodorant, they smell like actual fragrance instead of chemical-y "soft powder" or "spring rain."

We on Team Bella are also big fans of Pit Putty ($10), which uses arrowroot to keep BO bacteria from growing, instead of using scent to mask it, and Lush Aromaco ($7), which utilizes witch hazel and chamomile vinegar to give similar antibacterial properties and a soft scent. There's never been a better time to let you pits go natural, and if you're thinking of making the switch, you definitely won't lack for options.

Pit Putty is online at Bubble & Bee. Most of the mentioned items are easier to locate or only-available online.

Where does one buy one of these? Can't say I've seen them in-store ever..?

I would love to try Pit Putty; I often read rave reviews for the product.Right now I am using a deodorant by Lafe's Roll-On (w/ hemp & aloe) which is better than the Crystal Roll-On & Tom's of Maine which did absolutely nothing to ease odor and the latter contains Propylene Glycol as an ingredient (a shame.) Lafe's hasn't prevented all odor however at least works well enough for now.

because of your reviews on Lush, I went in to pick up aramaco and coconut deo powder, but loved the scent of teo and the greench more! two weeks and so far so good. love both products and love how i smell so much that i look forward to hitting the gym and sweating. i like the fresh scent of tea tree and green tea more than patchouli scents.

I just started using Lush's Aromaco and it actually works really well, especially if topped with a bit of powder on really sweaty gym days.

I just recently made the switch, and have been using Pit Putty. It's great! It takes a little more work than my old deodorant; you are supposed to rub it in for maximum effectiveness, and I find myself reapplying maybe once or twice a day, whereas I never used to. But it really works! And it doesn't sting like Tom's of Maine did for me. I feel great knowing I'm not putting horrible chemicals into my pores every day.

I finally found a way to make natural deodorant work for me. At night I shower at night and apply it after I shower. Then when I wake up in the morning and shower again, I apply it again. It took about 3 days but my body has adjusted to it. But I do appreciate the suggestions of the deodorants. I notice that the ones that contains some kind of vegetable enzyme or mineral enzyme works okay but eventually eats away at the seams where the sleeves are connected to the shoulder/bodice of the shirt. Hence why I have to wash my items right away after wearing it. I wished someone informed me before *lol*.

I've been using Tom's of Maine but these looks great. Thanks for the tip.
