Love It or Hate It? Nicky Hilton's Two-Tone Hair

Nicky Hilton came to support her sister at the debut of Paris's new MTV reality show, Paris Hilton's My New BFF at LAX yesterday. I'm intrigued by Nicky's hair color — often, colorists go lighter in the front because it's where the sun naturally hits hair and because it can brighten the complexion. While this look is kind of the opposite, the shades of caramel that Nicky's colorist chose and the way her hair is styled here (the darker part is almost like a headband) is something I haven't seen much and I'm digging. When darkness turns to light . . .

It's just so weird! Maybe some kid got his dye-covered hands into her hair and it was too late to wash it out?

She paid someone to do that?!?! She could have waited a few weeks and her roots would have looked just like that. It's tacky all-around.

I thought "headband" too! It doesn't flatter her face.

Her hair color is GORGEOUS! But I think she should part her hair differently...and the hair tucked behind both ears thing isn't really that flattering either.

It looks natural and I love it. Having more of your natural color at the crown makes your eyes pop. Obvious highlights at the roots are going the wayside. Dark transitioning to light is very Carrie Bradshaw and is embraced by stylish chics everywhere.

I agree that it's styled weird, but I feel like the dark in front makes her eyes pop, since they're such a light blue

I have to say that I totally love the caramel color on the bottom and I wish I knew what color shs's using. But the top part is too dark, i agree it looks a bit tacky. It just looks like a dark headband. I would love the caramel color for my hair. :)

putting so much dark up front just makes her forehead look like someone chopped it off and put a bad wig on.

I actually decided to do the Two-tone thing about 2 weeks ago. I went red in the front and a deep brown in the back. I know it sounds crazy, but the red blends into the brown to keep it professional looking. I recommend a two-tone look to anyone who is considering a big color change. Try out the color partially in the front to see how you like it.

I think she looks good. However, I dont think that's a coloring job, I think that's her natural hair color coming in. I know mine is darker at the front and at the top and lighter on the bottoms because the ends of my hair are the oldest parts and theyve seen the most sun, or the parts that were colored in the past and are growing out or fading. Her hair just looks to shiny and healthy to be colored. It just looks natural to me. I dont think you could go to a stylist and achieve that effect, but I have no experience with that so I dont know!

I like it. In fact this is the best I have seen her look in a while. I am probably partial since I chopped all my bleached blonde hair off last November, dyed it brown, and have not colored it since. Letting it grow out and getting trims every 10 to 12 weeks has resulted in darker natural roots, while the ends still have the bleach that hasn't quite grown out yet. I think growing out one's hair and color at the same time can be quite a pain in the arse.

I think it just looks like she went too long between colorings.

This is just an elevation of that blonde-on-top-of-black hairstyle which I hate. Ew.

I usually don't like two-toned hair, but I think this looks really pretty. Her eyelashes are also pretty awesome in this picture.
