Nordstrom and E.L.F. cosmetics

FYI: Nordstrom and E.L.F. Aren't a Couple

Some of you might have received an email alerting you to a partnership between Nordstrom and Eyes Lip Face cosmetics (E.L.F. for short). The message goes something like this: E.L.F. has been featured on Oprah, Nordstrom just bought the line, and they're having a big ol' clearance (all products marked down to a dollar!) to make room for new makeup.

Trouble is, it's not true. Nordstrom has released a statement calling the emails fraudulent:

We have learned that some of our customers received emails from an unauthorized and unknown source regarding the website eyeslipsface.com. We want you to know that Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com are not affiliated with eyeslipsface.com or the E.L.F. product line, nor with any email regarding that website or product line. Nordstrom does not sell E.L.F. products.

For what it's worth, E.L.F. products are only a dollar in the first place. So if you want to shop, have at it — just think twice before you press that forward button in your email.

At the end of the day a good product is a good product, I meant. When you spend $30 for Mac eye shadow or blush, you are spending it on advertising & their shelf space at Nordstroms!! Think about it, . I HIGHLY DOUBT their ingredients are "higher quality" based on their "brand name". Mac uses crushed glass for their powders for crying out loud! (Bismuth) - so it is isn't "you get what you pay for." I've spent countless hours researching ingredients in makeup, and most products use similar ingredients, and probably all from China! Unless you are buying organic products, do not be disillusioned to think you are paying for something so "spectacular" on your face. Most makeup programs are just a combination of synthetic ingredients mixed with earth minerals, some of which are aluminum (highly toxic) but called different names such as kaolin or mica! Joke's on all of us! Signed, The economy sucks and I love e.l.f. forever!

I just bought my first e.l.f products and I love them! The eye shadows are highly pigmented, and the tinted moisturizer made my face look beautiful! So much of what people buy is brand name hoopla, at the end of day a good product is just that :) I could have bought the same lip gloss, foundation, and eye shadows with Maybelline or Mac, or Benefit and thrown away $150! What a waste! Instead I spent $6!!! and my face looked as beautiful as it does when I wear my Lorac makeup!! So DEAR ELF, I LOVE YOU, Signed, A loyal fan forever

I got a cheek stain from them the last time I was in K-Mart. I wanted to see if I would like that type of product. It's not too bad but it goes on really dark if you don't control yourself.

I used the eyelash curler today and thought it worked well, especially for $1.00.

I tried some of their nail polishes and they had leaked when the arrived, not work returning, just tossed them. My daughter does actually like the eyelash curler.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never had a problem with them. I get my items quickly and the packages are accurate. I really like their lip glosses and blush. Color selection isn't the greatest, but what I get goes on nicely and stays true to color.

I got this forward several times a couple months ago. I immediately thought it was lame because ELF cosmetics are always a dollar anyways! So, I was like, um that's not a sale, so who cares if Nordstrom bought it or not. That was a weird one, whoever started it... :? You get what you pay for!

I think E.L.F. makeup is crap...terrible quality. I've tried a few different things from them and they're terrible. I wouldn't even spend another dollar on that brand.

this is the type of make up I'd buy a pre teen whos just starting out... I've looked at their stuff and will probably buy something, but it won't be my go to company like Urban Decay.

I actually like their brushes too. I don't mind their blushes and bronzers either, but the rest of their line isn't so great.

the brushes are actually pretty good. I hate their customer service-with a passion

Their brushes are very well made, only one or two are duds. Well worth the money though, if nothing else.

BTW, the powder brush feels like sand paper, the eye brightner pencil (it's a white eyeliner) doesn't even show up on my waterline at all, so it's worhtless. I did like the nailpolish though. Oh and the lip gloss was so thick and goopy, ew. That surprised me because it won some kind of magazine beauty award or something. Shipping took forever for me too.

I bought an e.l.f. liner/shadow combo last week. The shadow is ok but the liner pencil is lame. At least it was only $1.80 for two products...

I checked them out at the Better Business Bureau and it looks like they don't have the best business practices. Many people have had problems with shipping. Buyer Beware!

yeah, I heard this from several sources and couldn't believe it. there was another ploy like this last year saying they were going out of business. How rude.

s/b I fell for it not feel for it.

I feel for it and bought a few things - shipping did take forever. I just received mine today. Haven't tried anything just yet, but I sure will give an update.

I've never tried ELF - going on the principle that any makeup that costs $1 can't be good for your skin or good quality in general. I don't think I would believe a rumor like that simply because of the sheer implausibility.

that's crazy! my friend forwarded this to me and all our mutual girlfriends and some of them went on and bought a ton of stuff. i didn't as I felt everything looked kinda cheap. i'm a makeup snob what can i say. :)

a drugstore near my school actually sells elf products so i wanted to check out what they looked like before i ordered them (their customer service has pretty bad reviews from what i read about them so i was wary) and their products didnt look all that great. id rather hold off and buy something priced a little more to get more quality.

ELF sucks. I ordered some stuff from them last year. Their customer service was horrible. It took me over a month to get my order and then it was wrong when I got it. Their eyeshadows are just okay. Their lipglosses were awful. You get what you pay for, I guess.

their items are always $1....they have been out for about a year i believe!

OMG! I actually believed in it and bought few items, and so as my friends! I just bought the brushes (haven't tried yet) and the mineral foundation (they were okay...not the greatest!) OPS, should be more careful next time! They took forever to ship, by the way.
