Oh Man: Bid Adieu to His Unibrow

Whenever I think of the term unibrow, my stomach churns. How can guys be so oblivious to the fact that they have a single adjoining eyebrow? By definition, a unibrow (or monobrow) is an overgrowth of hair between the nose area that creates the appearance of having one continuous eyebrow.

If your man is one of these guys who doesn't groom this area of his face, it's up to you to talk to him about the error of his ways. And if indeed you are one of the lucky ladies that he'll allow to take matters into your own hands, get ready to have some fun.

Tip: Keep in mind that you're going for a really natural look. Most men aren't going to allow you to linger for very long, so your goal is to work quickly and efficiently. Also, don't overdo it — anything too plucked is going to make him feel self-conscious, and you will only ensure that he'll never let you near them again! To read my simple four-step process to creating great groomed guy brows,

  • STEP 1: Use a small and sharp scissor to trim any long eyebrows. A subtle shaping will make a really big difference.
  • STEP 2: The best time to pluck is after he's gotten out of the shower, when his skin is warm and moist. Take a tweezer and begin to tweeze the most obvious, dark, and overgrown hairs in the middle first.
  • STEP 3: Then, tweeze a few hairs from each brow that are growing way too high or too low or are sticking out on the sides. You are simply trying to create a clean shape and a more uniform look. When in doubt, step back for a moment to make sure that your work is even.
  • STEP 4: Once you are finished, take a cool towel and apply it to his brows. This should minimize pain and redness. Also, let him know that it's going to be much easier to pluck frequently than to withstand this kind of treatment again. Tell him that whenever he sees a stray just to pluck it away!

lol... fortunately the guy I'm seeing right now knows more about make-up than I do... I dont see any personal grooming problems in his future haha :D

I would rather date a guy with a unibrow than one who waxes his brows. Metrosexuality is OUT, y'all. :) My guy grooms his goatee fabulously, but messing with his eyebrows would just be taking it too far in my opinion.

It doesn't hurt to drag your guy to a salon once a month. Most guys would actually appreciate it (though most will also never admit to enjoying it). It's true!

My lovely boyfriend lets me fix his up for him. The first time I had to convince him to let me, he used to shave it with a razor. Now he comes to me or steals my tweezer when I'm sleeping or have gone to class in the morning.

I think fixing a unibrow and having over arched eyebrows on a man are two TOTALLY different things. Just fix the middle and leave the rest. My b/f doesn't have a unibrow but he does have this random hair that grows straight out and long. It seriously freaks me out so bad, but he HATES when I pluck it. At Christmas I was starting at it and just reached up and yanked it out. He was like "WHAT THE HELL" but I jsut couldn't handle it anymore

Yes...I agree with Nina. I kind of like men looking more like...how can I put it.... men. Overplucked brows in guys are a sure turn off for me.

I prefer a man with bushy eyebrows then those so called metrosexuals whose brows are more plucked then most womens. Not very masculine or sexy.

Mr. Books has the most PERFECT eyebrows. Seriously, it's enough to make women jealous.

@ emalove - I think it's worse when women have them! They of all people should know better! But I haven't been faced with the problem of a unibrowed boyfriend yet, thankfully...

Unibrows are the worst...I've seen women with them before too, not just men.

Once a week I tie my boyfriend down and rip his eyebrows out. They drive me nuts when they aren't pluked and I HAVE to do it...
