Trend Alert: Rapunzel Hair

Art often imitates life, but perhaps now it's more that life is imitating art. Seeing how Tangled is currently killing it at the box office, Rapunzel-like hair seems to be the inspiration for Solange Knowles, her sister, Beyoncé Knowles, and Christina Milian. Their new looks for 2011 include locks that extend beyond the waistline. Would you go this long? Give your opinion in the comments below, and for even more extreme looks, be sure to check out these supersized styles.

a couple of my friends have long hair like this (i used to, but now it just doesn't grow very fast...), one of them even having it down past her hips. :3 it's pretty on both of them, and while it is a bit more difficult for them to take care of, they do a good job and it doesn't seem to bother them. ^-^ they look better than these women too, i believe. naturally pretty. <3

Extremely long extensions is nothing new and hardly a trend.

Really long extensions never look real and look really cheap to me. Really long natural hair, I don't like either. The hair has no shape or "cut" in it, it's just blend. And like soapbox said, usually women who have it that long always keep it up in a ponytail or bun, I don't see the point. Too much maintenance for me.

The key distinction here is that these are long wigs. I have waist length hair and there's no way I could flatiron or curl it every day the way these celebrities wear their wigs. I call it the Miley Cyrus look - though hers is an implausible color as well as length. If you like long hair, grow it, try it. If you want trendy hair cut it short. Celebrities can have/do both because they all wear wigs anyway. Tell you what, my long hair won't be trendy no matter how many celebrities wear long wigs, because mine looks like I really grew it, really have to wash it, and really have to bun or braid it out of the way to keep looking neat.

Of course this is in, since I just sheared off my ultra long locks for an angled bob! But it's okay; my course long hair was heavy and a huge, huge pain, and I just didn't know how to not look hobo chic. Short hair is more practical and (I think) leaves ladies looking more easily put-together.

I don't really like long extensions on non-celebrities. It almost always looks kind of cheap. However, I always thought that long natural was okay if it wasn't thin. I just hate it when people have long hair and always keep it up in a ponytail or bun. What's the point?

It's not a look I would embrace, either, although I don't think it looks terrible on the ladies above.

I love it on other people but definitely not for myself

I think it looks nice on celebrities, but we expect them to be over-the-top glam. Not to mention they can afford the very best, perfectly done extension. I can't imagine this could translate to real life.

Really, really long hair creeps me out. Maybe because it makes me think of every American remade Japanese horror film... Also, I can't imagine how much those weaves cost.

I think hair this long looks dirty and old-fashioned.
