Reader Review of the Day: Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub

Neutrogena at ShopStyle

Got bacne? Don't worry, you're not the only one. Reader bengalspice found something that works to keep the back pimples at bay. Here's her review of Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub:

I bought this for my boyfriend three years ago when we started dating because he had really gross bacne. No, really. I mean really gross bacne. I would use this to scrub his back because he had no clue how bad it was back there. Within a month his back was SPOTLESS! He's been using this less frequently since then, and the bacne hasn't come back. He also likes how the grit feels when he massages it into his shoulders. It smells really good, too. I also use this when I have acne spring up during the winter, when I tend to wear stuff that irritates my skin.

I may have to get this for my boyfriend. I was going to buy him a block of Coalface soap from LUSH for his backne, but this saves me a trip into town.

Nadia - YES. This bottle is impossible. Great product, but the packaging just doesn't work right for me.

Yogaforlife--I have hyper-sensitive skin and this doesn't make me break out in any way (rashes, hives, acne, you name it). It does make my skin a teeny bit dry. Keep in mind sensitivity varies person to person. If you can, try and find what it is he is allergic to in lotions and such. If you find this really dries out his skin, Neutrogena makes another Oil-free cleanser called Oil Free Acne Wash Redness Relief. I use this because the regular stuff dries out my skin like mad. I had really dry patches.I can't use Eucerin, Lubriderm, Vaseline, Jergens and some Aveeno and Neutrogena lotions. Also, retinal in any dose and fragrance are huge no-nos. I find that the Norwegian Formula Neutrogena Hand Cream really help my super dry patches of skin anywhere, I also use really gentle lotions like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion daily. Sunscreen wise, I use Coppertone hypo-allergenic lotion. I love Dove's sensitive skin body wash too as it's super, super gentle (it contains no soap and no fragrance). I hope this helps, yoga!

I like this stuff but am I the only one who HATES the bottle? It is nearly impossible to squeeze with one hand. I would use two hands but where would I squeeze it? Mid-air?

This was a staple of mine in high school - it totally works. Luckily, I haven't had to use it in quite some time though. Yoga - I think it's technically "safe" for dry/sensitive skin, but I would be careful. The reason it works is because it's medicated (I think with salicylic acid), so it could be very drying.

Is this safe for sensitive or dry skin?My hubby's skin has been a mess since he had an allergic reaction to the iodine used to prep his skin for surgery. Then on top of that he had an allergic reaction to prednizone. His skin hasn't been the same - he breaks out in pimples or a rash from everything - even Aveeno lotion, and his skin is so dry and itchy. I would love for him to try this on his back which has developed bacne on the areas that were prepped for surgery.

Wow, bengalspice, you're a SAINT! I would die before scrubbing someone's bacne. That's love though. :)
