Getting ready for big events is half the fun, and that's why we went behind the scenes with Rebecca Minkoff as she prepared for her night on the 2012 CFDA Awards red carpet. So see how it went down, and learn how easily you can convert this trendy look from the red carpet for your next seaside vacation.
Ride the Wave
Tresemmé stylist Jeanie Syfu created an effortless, beachy-wave style to accompany Minkoff's vibrant designs. She began by applying Tresemmé Split Remedy conditioner and products from the Climate Control line to seal in moisture and keep frizz at bay. "Use what you have and don't fight it; enhance what your hair naturally does," she said.
And to keep hair sleek all night long, Syfu recommended applying products while strands are wet, then allowing hair to air-dry partway before styling. As a finishing touch, spritz on dry shampoo, and tousle to give the style a weightless finish.
Minkoff wore clip-in blond extensions to add a faux ombré effect to her coiffure. "Tonight I just wanted to push a little bit out of my comfort zone," she said. "This is great because I don't have to dye my hair."
Note Minkoff's navy eye makeup, which was inspired by colors featured in her red-carpet dress (with fabric from this year's resort collection).
Put a Ring on It
This neon nail polish is on-target for Summer (especially when paired with boldly hued ensembles), and we loved Minkoff's gorgeous cocktail rings.
Shoes and other accessories were lined up as the red carpet awaited.
Minkoff was joined on the CFDA red carpet by blogger Leandra Medine and model Hilary Rhoda, who both wore her designs. "We worked together to pick what they felt most beautiful in," she said. "I think it was just to make everyone look and feel as beautiful as they wanted."
