Review of Remington Emi Airwave Anti-Static Style System

Remington's Airwave Dryer Creates Beachy Waves

Whenever I think long hairstyles, TeamSugar is one of my favorite go-to gals. Remember her Angelina Jolie-esque bun? This time, TeamSugar volunteered to try out the Remington Emi Airwave Anti-Static Style System ($25), an ionic blow dryer that uses a nifty little attachment to create beachy waves. It sort of reminds me of the twirling action of a vacuum cleaner, without the scary factor.

After giving the Airwave a whirl, our lovely model was pleased with the results. The attachment helped her to create non-pouffy ringlets on her naturally curly locks; She even preferred the contraption over a diffuser. Since this dryer was easy to use, didn't take long to dry her long hair, and reduced static overall, it gets her seal of approval. Check out the gallery below for more pics, and learn how to create TeamSugar's sexy style after the jump.

For TeamSugar's how-to,

.

  • Step 1: Comb Jonathan Product Condition Leave-in Gloss Creme ($22) through the hair. Using fingers, spread evenly.
  • Step 2: Twist a section of your hair and place in the blow dryer attachment. Blow-dry until semi-dry (dries better when partially damp to avoid the frizzy look). Continue to twist and dry until you’ve done your entire head of hair, leaving the crown to dry naturally.
  • Step 3: Spray Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls Wave Creating Spray ($20) lightly over entire hair. Separate the curls/waves with your fingers to break up the style.
  • Step 4: Go over any areas that need more waves. "Your hair will fall nicely with a 'just got off the beach and looking glamorous' look the entire day," she said. Woot woo! (That's my attempt at a whistle.)

It worked great for me! My hair is naturally really straight. I often finger wave it but it takes a long time. This took half the time and my hair seems shinier somehow...I like the casual rocker/bedhead effect

I just bought this this weekend since I needed a new hair dryer. I have medium length, stick straight, fine hair. First I was excited & tried it on my dry hair- dont do that! you get knotty dreadlocks! So then I tried it after I washed my hair. It does take a while, maybe 20 minutes to get around your whole head. I left the "curls" partially wet & then after another 10 min or so I worked my fingers thru & loosened the curls. I didnt use any products this time but the waves were nice, & compared to curling, easy to achieve. My finished hair was not as frizzy or spirally curled as the model in the article tho. It was more beach hair look. Overall I like it!

I own this blow dryer and I do have to say, unless your hair is already curly OR wavy- it will not work. You'll end up with a frizzy looking mop! I'm japanese and my hair is straight but somewhat fine... it still didn't make a difference! Although I used the attachment on my DRY hair to give it some sassy texture- that worked!

Team Sugar - this product is actually ideal for straight hair as it curls and dries simultaneously. I would suggest drying your hair until its about 75% dry (without the attachement) and then using the tunnel attahment to finish drying and create the curls!

Omg? It looks like it damaged her hair! :S

so wait...you have to blow dry one ringlet at a time? That seems like it would take a while. Or can I do larger sections at once? I have fine curly hair so I wonder if this would just make me look like I got caught in a tornado...

I'm also curious what kind of look I could get with my hair blown out straight and then using this afterward. I'm going do a test drive of this next week and will report back! ;-)

Just wondering how it works on naturally straight hair? Would I have to twirl and add products to my hair when wet...then dry with this?

I do this by twirling my hair into a bun for a few hours after I come out of the shower! super easy!

cupcake_ I know the feeling!!! I don't have time to use a flat iron at all. It's spray gel and scrunch, and I get these waves equipment free!
