A Sense For Beauty, Part III: Sight

A Sense For Beauty, Part III: Sight

Your sense of sight probably plays the biggest role in the beauty products that you purchase. For example, when you look in the mirror, you might not realize it, but you're deciding which features you want to play down or accentuate on that particular day.

Studies show that if you feel confident on the inside that you actually look more confident on the outside — so don't forget to smile or wink at yourself once in a while when you're primping!

Also, if you find yourself drawn to particular makeup colors because they are more aesthetically pleasing to your eyes than others, its no coincidence. These shades probably look better on your skin tone and eye color and you are making a subconscious decision to wear them.

For a few ideas about how to make yourself look better without having to apply tons of makeup,

.

  • Get a manicure. Even if you're not wearing makeup, you'll feel like you look polished if your fingernails are filed and painted.
  • Apply some mascara. This beauty item instantly gives eyes definition and makes you look and feel more awake.
  • Apply clear lip gloss. This will make your smile look brighter, your teeth look whiter, and lip gloss tends to add a sparkle to your eyes.

I love when I do my nails, I can't stop looking at them all day. Mascara also make a huge difference to me and so does applying lip gloss and BLUSH too.

If I have no time at all, I use a very light dusting of mineral foundation mostly as a concealer, slick on a sheerish red or rose liptone, and do my brows. If my eyes seem "lost" but I don't want to look too made up I might use a bit of taupe shadow with no other tones, or mascara. But truth is I LOVE smokey eyes, and I am always drawn to these eyeshadows: greys, silvers, jeweltones with charcoal lowlights, and shimmering pale nudes.... In lips I love hot, sheer reds, rosepetal red "Benefit Benetint" stains tones, and true creamy reds, but I try to keep a few more user-friendly shades around, and often just wear a bit of Urban Decay stain, blotted on, with some Lip Venom on top of it. As for mascara, I am a "black, or don't bother" kinda girl.

Defi look and feel more awake when wearing mascara! And I'm totally drawn to anything pink, lipstick, lipgloss, blushes, pink eyeshadows, cheek stain . . .

I tend to stick to neutral colors for my eyes and pinks for my lips. I always used to use black liquid eyeliner, but earlier this year I discovered a nice bronze liquid eyeliner by Rimmel. I haven't used black since.

I think I do end up sticking to certain colors even though I generally don't wear a lot of makeup.

I have BIG lips, so I hardly wear any lip products on the weekdays except for clear lip gloss and people are always saying how much they like the color of my lip gloss!! I definetly agree with the confidence thing, somedays I'm looking great! And others I feel like I look washed out, but nobody else notices...

I definitely am drawn to certain shades of make-up products more than others. I tend to be drawn to the really natural colors. I use to fight it but not anymore. :P I was debating whether or not to get a manicure this weekend.. I guess I'll be pampering myself to one. :)
