Standing Salon Appointments

Do You Book Standing Appointments?

Having regular scheduled blowout and manicure appointments always seems like the most ladies-who-lunch cosmopolitan dream to me, but I recently discovered a friend of mine — who, um, serves lunch — has a regular Wednesday afternoon date with her manicurist and a standing monthly eyebrow appointment. Do you schedule your appointments months in advance, or are you an impulse salon visitor?

I go when I have the money and usually book a week in advance.

My grandmother is a hair stylist and I would get my hair done by her. But we moved this year and now my mom actually trims it.

Only for hair. I do my own top lip, nails and eyebrows. It just cost too much to go to a salon and have someone do all that. But hair appointments are always made far in advance. I usually set up the next two or three when I go in, but that's mostly because my salon is the most popular place in town.

that comes across as really condescending towards people who serve lunch... with the use of "um" and the italicised emphasis

Nope. I like going when I feel like it, setting appointments makes it feel like a chore.

Only hair. I do my brows and nails and what not myself, I'm too afraid of someone else messing up :D

Every 6 weeks I am in for a haircut and a lip wax. Since I have short hair it really needs to be cut regularly to avoid having it look like a mullet, and well, a lip wax is never something you want to go too long without.

When I wore acrylic nails I had a standing appointment. I live in a small town and its just easier that way.

Nope, I tend to just wait til there's a need for whatever service. I'd constantly be rescheduling if I had a standing appointment. My life is nuts.

I don't have anything recurring. I do book my next appointment when I pay for my services. This makes sure I don't go too long between cuts and that I can get in. It also gives me something to look forward to, especially when it comes to manicures and pedicures.

No I go when I need to and I have the time. Standing appts usually don't always pan out, you never know what might happen.

I just call in day-of for my beauty appointments. But I don't frequent the super high-end places where my stylist would have a huge line booked for weeks ahead of her. More like just a couple hours. :)

Highlights. Scheduled every 6 weeks, 5 months out. I travel regularly for work, and believe me, it's easier to rearrange a meeting or travel than it is to reschedule my hair appointments. I mean, there ARE priorities! Brows I generally hit every 3 weeks, but I don't schedule much more than a week in advance.

I use to, but with the economy like it is and the price for things that are necessities going up I book spa/nail/waxing appointments as needed.

No. I just go whenever I get the urge for some change or really need a trim or whatever.

I tried scheduling my appointments are regular intervals but always found a reason to postpone them. My hair was in good shape and didn't need a trim yet or my nail polish still looked really good and would last another week. I hate canceling appts and inconveniencing the stylists so I just book 'em as I need 'em.
