Tom's of Maine Deodorant Natural Challenge

Tom Challenges You to Give Him a Try

Back in my rock-and-roll days, there was an unspoken rule among the most serious punks: If you were going to groom yourself, the only acceptable brand was Tom's Of Maine. The naturally based, animal-friendly, vegan brand was pretty much the only toothpaste that the hardcore kids would use, but whaddya know, they always cleaned up pretty well. While my rocker-girl days may have dwindled (or not), I still use Tom's lavender deodorant faithfully.

Now, you can join me in my natural-armpitted glory — and you don't have to worry about losing any money in doing so. Through Tom's Natural Challenge, you can try Tom's of Maine, and if you don't love it, you'll get your money back. Look for a special display (there's also a $1 off coupon), give the product a whirl, and one of two things will happen: You'll either find a vegan-and-green grooming goody to love, or you'll get your money back by sending it to Tom's. Not a bad deal!

I bought this in the summer and it didn't work. So I saved it for the cooler months. If it doesn't work in the winter then it's definitely not worth it.

I love Tom's. Their toothpaste and deoderant rocks.

LOL i remember Tom's being popular with the stoners group too, when I was in HS- us environmentalists y'know, appreciating the bounty of plants the good earth has to offer and all ;) i actually liked Tom's of Maine products, enjoyed the novelty of the tinny toothpaste tube as well. The only all-natural product I have tried and hated was from trader joe's- a deoderant crystal, it was a smooth rock that you rubbed all over your pits and it did not work at all. Plus it was just plain wierd to have people thinking that my deoderant sitting on the windowsill was a decorative rock.lol.

I want to try using natural deodorant that is void of aluminum zirconium because it's related to causing cancer...but I've found that the deodorants that have that ingredient in it keep me from sweating. I should try alternatives though...my mother especially tries to keep me away from any brand with aluminum in it.

I dont recommend Jasons either. I'm still on a mission to find a natural deodorant that works for me :)

i'm with EmaLove. we discussed this a while back. This deodorant also gave me a horrible rash and made my underarms grey. Gross :p I was not able to use deodorant for a week after this and I couldnt lift up my arms during the summer cause they were grey. So embarrassing.

This may work as deoderant, but it certainly isn't an antiperspirant. And isn't preventing sweat stains a major factor?

ever since i started using Toms of Maine toothpaste, I absolutely cannot use any of the major brands (Colgate, Crest, etc). They taste like brushing my teeth with a candy cane! Way too sweet.I like their deodorant too, there's a woodsy scented one and a rose scented one that do a pretty good job, and let out scent in waves as your body heats. If you really need an antiperspirant, though, be warned that this is only a deodorant.

I love Tom's. It was just recently bought by Colgate. They created the vegan product prior to Colgate taking over. If that makes a difference...

I had JUST saw this in the store and I debated on getting it. I wanted to do some research to see if it was really good or not. I use Tom's toothpaste, so I am very familiar with the brand. Thanks for this post, I will pick up the deodorant next time I'm at the store :)

I hate this deoderant. I didn't think it worked well, and it made my underarms all red and itchy.

Check their score on the Skin Deep website: not as good as you would expect...

I tried their fennel toothpaste and it tastes great, but there is no flouride, so I dont recommend it all the time.

I just started using natural (no aluminum) deodorant because its better for you, but I use Arm and Hammer Essentials which uses baking soda, and it works really well.

I know.. it's tricky advertising at its best (worse?).

foxie, Tom's is owned by Colgate? OMG I'm horrified!!! I love their toothpaste :(

I'll give it a try. Natural deodorant is better for you anyway. The aluminum in the other antiperspirant is linked to cause breast cancer.

Whether it's animal friendly or not is HIGHLY debateable. It's owned by Colgate, which is most certainly NOT animal friendly. In my opinion, I think to approach the 'vegan, earth friendly, cruelty free' angle is completely misleading, and shame on you for contributing to it. Why not market products that aren't owned by animal-testing companies?
