Venezuelan Politician Sells Breast Implant Raffle Tickets

The Newest Fund-Raising Surefire? Boob Job Raffles

While some politicians appeal for dollars in traditional ways, one Venezuelan candidate is going another route. National Assembly candidate Gustavo Rojas is trying to help fund his campaign by selling $6 raffle tickets for breast augmentation surgery.

Rojas compared it to raffling off a TV set or telephone, although that seems like a stretch. It's certainly a great way to raise your campaign's visibility, though, especially if your target voters are plastic-surgery-loving Venezuelan ladies. If something similar became a campaign stunt in the US, would you laugh, roll your eyes, fume, or what?

I agree, brys, it's totally sexist. Plus, if someone in the US did that they would come under so much fire, they'd never get elected! I would only donate the $6 if I could put the surgery off for about 20 years, my girls are just fine the way they are now!

I don't like the idea. It perpetuates the old notion that women are sex objects. At least that's how I interpret it.
