As someone whose family suffered through Hurricane Katrina, I can tell you that time is of the essence for the millions of people trapped, injured, and in danger in Haiti. It's not enough to have survived — when a disaster on this scale occurs, the people affected can't save themselves and everyone around them, let alone get drinkable water or food. The days afterward are often just as fatal as the initial disaster. The people of Haiti need our help now, so I'm encouraging you to join me in donating. If you'd like links to the various charities involved in rescue and relief efforts, you can find them here.
If you'd like to contribute through your beauty purchases instead of (or hopefully along with) your charitable donations, and you're a fan of Josie Maran Cosmetics, this is the time to stock up. From now until Feb. 1, half of the proceeds from their online sales go directly to the American Red Cross's disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
