Wear Purple Makeup For Spirit Day

Put on Some Purple For Spirit Day

If you haven't seen it on Facebook, today is Spirit Day, honoring the LGBT kids who've committed suicide in recent months. Purple represents Spirit on the rainbow flag, and wearing the color is a good way to show your support and commitment to change. Even if you didn't walk out of the house today wearing violet, you can remedy that now by sweeping on some aubergine eye shadow or some plum lipstick. It's easy, it only takes a second, and it might lead to a consciousness-raising conversation.

Ellenora, I wasn't asking for people to talk about abortion or change their opinion. I was merely asking that all people who express their political, religious, emotional, or otherwise views by doing something such as a protest, or wearing a color, get equal amounts of press. Maybe, I should have brought it up in the OnSugar group, but I just feel really supressed and censored by media that decides whicj one school of thought deserves to be publicized and which do not. Please do not think that I am trying to take away from this cause. I think it is so important that people out there understand what an important issue this is. No one should ever take their life because of evil or ignorant comments, pressure, or behavior. I just want it to be fair (I know that's very idealistic, but I believe it can be done)...

@lizlee89, I respect your opinion, but I feel this might have been better posted in an OnSugar group; alternatively, you could make a group to express your opinions. This post is about LGBT people who have committed suicide, not about abortion and whether or not it should be considered murder and, therefore, a felony.

Ok, I know people are going to get all bent out of shape at me even though I'm just expressing my opinion as I have the right, but this bugs me. I am totally supportive of this cause; even though I am Catholic and against the lifestyle it still absolutely disgusts me how people can be treated so badly (for whatever reason) that they end their life. However, it also bothers me that this gets national recognition and yet, just yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people participated in a silent demonstration to protest the travesty that it abortion. Children are being murdered and many (including myself) are not only devasted but sick of it. Whether one agrees with the issue, it is not right that one courageous act of belief is recognized and the other is ignored. What's popular should not matter... http://lifenews.com/nat6775.html
