When It Comes to Beauty, What's Your Murphy's Law Moment?

When It Comes to Beauty, What's Your Murphy's Law Moment?

You all know Murphy's Law, right? It states that if something can go awry, it will — usually at the most inopportune moment. The day you decide to wear white jeans is the day your period will come early. Or the afternoon you're scheduled for an important job interview, a car will zoom through a puddle and fling mud onto your clothing. When it comes to my beauty routine, without fail, the night before a big event or exciting date, a half-dozen pimples will sprout on my chin. Not the end of the world, but not something I love, either. Is there something that goes wrong like this for you, too?

HUGE pimples before important events where I'm meeting a large number of people. Two of them have left scars on my face even months later. Waaaaaahhhh!!!

To Pistil: Me too!I'm with all of you who have suffered under Murphy's Law before a big event. I went to a friend's charity event and getting ready for it was a nighmare. I bought a new dress (which fit like a dream), planned my makeup and hair, and gotten a good night's rest to ensure minimal dark circles. So of course on the day of the event my hair decides to whack out, I feel like my dream dress makes me look frumpy, and the heat exhausts me so much that I can barely get through makeup.

I haven't had the problem since High School, but for years it never failed - yearbook pics, cheerleading pics, prom, graduation pics, whatever, I always got a HUGE pimple in the exact same spot on my forehead. You can see it in every professional picture of me for years! Someone looking at one of the pictures asked me once if it was a birthmark. Grrr.... glad that's over!

Most times I have to look professional, the weather is either really hot or super clammy (sp?) and I always end up arriving *real* sweaty (sorry it's gross). Somehow if I have a couple of extra kilos, my body can't handle heat. Saturday confirmed this fact. :?

It never fails: when I have an important event, I either over-pluck my eyebrows, or I make a mistake and take out a chunk

Me too, Bella--a breakout before an important event.

I agree with the hair problems, always the hair. I had forgotten since it was 20 years ago, but I did break my nose 6 weeks before my first wedding day...lots of concealer helped with the leftover bruising.

Before I had to take my gra pic, my right eye got swollen... Sadly, I had no choice but to take my picture the next day. It didn't look all that bad though, but still!

My hair usually gets frizzy or just horrible on the day of something really important

Mine are bad hair days before big events. Just when I really need it to cooperate with me, it's all frizzy and unmanageable. :(

I break out a lot so it happening around the time of an important event isn't special or noteworthy to me anymore :(

indeed! Everytime there's a party, or an important event.. my hair turns out strange and it's impossible to work with, but I kinda manage it after hours! My breakouts don't happen to appear before important schedules, THANK GOD!.. but those are the days in which I see myself the ugliest of all. Bleh! Lol

yep, always happens. Every time I try to look nice for a special event, it never works out. Zits, frizzy hair, "nothing to wear,"...! Lovely.

My hair is naturally very pretty, except of course when I really need it to be (like going out for a date or interview or something).

On the days that I'm just chilling out at home with no one to impress, I look decent without any effort at all. But when I try to look awesome for a big event, forget it.

yep. I've always had acne, but sometimes I see my face looks amazingly clear. NO w that I have a different routine my face look good. I don't go out often, but yes, when I'm going out There's a BIG pimple in m y cheek (more often in my left cheek) I always cover it up, but really, almost everyday I see my cheek nice and then BAM, the pimple.

Hmmmm I think if anything maybe I sprouted a blemish before a big event but I'm sure stressing about it didn't help. Ha.
