Would You Wear Lipstick Lighter Than Your Skin Tone?

Would You Wear Lipstick Lighter Than Your Skin Tone?

Eva Marcille may be enjoying a foray into acting these days, but she still has some high fashion model in her. At a recent ESPY-hosted event, she wore this ultralight cream lipstick that was just a touch lighter than her skin tone, making for a clean, modern look. Pale lipstick can make lips seem fuller, but it can also come off as alien or unnatural if it's not done correctly. Wearing a moist, creamy shade and creating contrast with dark eye makeup can help, but even with those factored in, do you think women who aren't on the runway or red carpet can wear the style?

I was guilty of this in middle/high school. The only time I use lipstick that's lighter than my skin tone now is for "erasing" my lips to create a nude canvas for my bright lipsticks. I don't dare to wear the color alone.

Totally and I did today it looks awesome. But I don't this color is lighter than eva's skin tone I think its just the bronzer thats making her darker.

I've tried it for fun at home, but instead of looking like a Carnaby Street mod, I wound up looking like a zombie. 'Twas not cute.

Love the Chappelle reference, GummiBears! The only way I've ever been able to pull off pale lipstick is with tons of eye makeup, but it's not one of my favorite looks. Eva really does make it work here, though. Kudos to her!

i have and looked alright, but it was a bronze (as opposed to champagne) colour so maybe the question isn't whether it's lighter than your skintone, but what colour the lipstick is to begin with

I agree with some of the other posters. I am waaaaay too pale. I would look dead.

The only way I'd be able to find a lip shade lighter than my skintone is if I applied Elmer's glue to my lips. And I don't think that would be a very good look...

Nope. I would look like Tyrone Biggums. Tried to pull it off in college but never made it out of the dorm room with it on.

Yikes, I don't think so. Eva may have pulled it off, but this is verging on ganguro. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganguro
