X Marks the Spot in Your Compact

One of my favorite things about the pre-going out ritual is that I get to try out shades from my friend's makeup bag and dig through her other beauty goods. As I was checking out one of her MAC powders, I noticed she had placed a small "x" on one side of the circular sponge applicator inside the compact. When I asked her what the "x" was all about, she told me that since both sides of the sponge got powder on it just by virtue of being in the compact, she never knew which side was for her face and which was the side for her fingers. So, a simple "x" to mark to spot, and she's got a grease-free application. Clever, eh?

Good idea, although at the moment I'm still using the MAC applicator that came with my powder, and you can only use one side of it. :)

Clever but I'd think one side would be more heavily soiled than the other and you could tell that way.
