I think I interview well but I have never landed a job I had to interview for so perhaps I'm wrong:(

I've never really *had* to formally interview for I don't know. I'm going to speak to some potential advisors in a couple of weeks, so maybe I should practice a bit - though I've already been accepted for the program. I do know that I have a really hard time talking to people in general anyway, so that may be a negative in the interview room. On the other hand, I won't say much unless I'm asked - so I haven't got that "fill up the empty air" problem! :D

I think i'm okay, but could always improve. Lets just say that i've had to false starts.

I'm pretty good at it, but every so often they'll throw a question in there that throws me for a loop. I've gotten most jobs I've interviewed for, but sometimes after interviewing, I realize that the job wasn't what I thought it was or that my skills were more cut out for another position.

i do think that i interview well. i'm not perfect at it, but i know what my strengths are and i know how to relate to the interviewer in most instances, so it's been pretty decent going for me so far.

i would say i generally get too nervous beforehand to be great at it, but my last interview was a slam dunk, so maybe i'm getting better with age and experience.

I think I interview well but I'm always really nervous right before it starts. It probably helped that I had to interview a bazillon people at a previous job.

I write excellent cover letters, but how well I interview seems to depend a bit more on chance.

When I was interviewing for grad school, I was told that I was very good in interviews, both by the people interviewing me and by my career counseling center. However, it's been so long since then and I've spent virtually no time in a non-academic setting, so I'm a bit worried about having to interview for the real jobs that I have my eye on once I finish my PhD.

I'm more of an "action" type person. I like all those little tests that some companies make you do because those prove how knowledgeable I REALLY am. I feel really cliche just "talking" about them. But overall, I think I'm an OK interviewer. Not the best, not the worst.

Actually, I became better throughout the years of interviewing even when I was just putting out my resume. When I first started out like anyone, I was so unprepared but throughout the years, I have become better. I think the times I did not get positions and when asked it was not based on my interview but other things. A great tip is research, research, and more research. Then you have to prepare and practice.

I used to be really good at interviewing, but have been with my company for 7 years. I'm hoping it's not "use it or loose it"! Skigurl, I KNOW what you mean! Sometimes I want to start at a new company just so I can keep it less personal than I've been here. When I was younger I was WAY more open. Live and learn.

It really depends on what kind of questions they are asking. I'm really good at open ended questions :) And as some one else said, my friend Chris lands every job he has ever interviewed for. He has this strange charm to him that makes people just love him.

I know that I do! I hope that's not smug. I've gotten most things I interviewed for, and one time when I didn't, I was even told that if it had been based on interview alone, I would have gotten it, but since I had worked with the interviewer at another job previously, she thought my skills would be a better fit for another position at the company. Which was kind of a back-handed compliment, "You interview well, but since I KNOW you, I see through it."

Yes, I would say I do. And I have definitely improved since my very first interview, like starangel also said.

Like wine, I've improved with age. I remember my first interviews right out of college. Yikes! I can always improve, but I'm a lot more confident in myself and my interviewing abilties now as opposed to 5 years ago.

smashedpotat - your comment reminds me that i haven't gotten every job i've interviewed for but i know people (guys mostly) who have gotten every single job they've ever made it to the interview phase for...i am definitely not as confident as they are!
