How Long Do You Think You'll Stay With Your Employer?

How Long Do You Think You'll Stay With Your Employer?

You never really know how long you'll stay with an employer. You might think of your job as temporary, and a few years later, there you are. On the other hand, you may not be able to see a future that doesn't involve your current employer, and then another unexpected opportunity comes along that sweeps you away to another job. How long do you estimate you'll remain with the company who employs you?

Probably until I retire because there are enough places for me to move around to within the organization if I get bored.

I've been with my company for over a year. I just got a promotion and I'm finally in a comfortable place. I hope to stay with them for many years to come as long as everything transitions smoothly.

I'm in a "transition" job. Its not really challenging, but if nothing better comes along and they will work with my schedule when I go back to school then I will stay here.

This is my second time with this employer. I left this employer back in 2000 to join a start-up, and then I realized how good this employer was. Luckily they have an opening back in 2006 and take me back. I hope to stay with them as long as I can.

I've been at my job two years now and I love it! I'll stay as long as I still love it :)

I've been with my employer for a year now and I plan on staying there for at least another few years while I do my OJT. Then I'll probably be able to work at a different hospital or lab that's closer to where we live and that pays better.

Well, if things go as planned, another 3 months and then my husband and I are leaving our jobs to travel and goof off before moving out of state next summer...crazy stuff, but we're so excited...and things are really not going as I was expecting at work, so I'm feeling less and less guilty about it (been there for over 6 years...first job out of college, etc.), but they still don't know...ahhh, I'm planning to give 2 months notice at the end of October...a scary Halloween, indeed if anyone has advice on appropriately giving notice, that would be fantastic...I manage a few different fundraising programs that just rotate being at their height...never a "downtime"

I've been at my job 3.5 years so far and see myself here at least another 2 years before I move on and out of state. It's a great place to work and I like my co-workers, but the job could definitely be more challenging.

I've been in my job for one and a half years, and I'm hoping I can leave it pretty soon. I'm sick of it, I took this job to pay off my student loans, it has nothing to do with what I'd want to do. I want to teach (high school or college english) or work at a college as an admissions or alumni rep.

Likely forever, but who knows? ... Still, I'd love to be a career prosecutor.

I will probably stay for another year before going for my accelerated Master's, and my PhD.

I would hope at least 5 years but I'd be happy to stay indefinitely. Its a great company and I'm learning a lot.
