2007 Shocking Headlines: Rosie vs. Her Co-Hosts

We've been counting down the most shocking headlines of 2007, and we'll be revealing one more each day through December 21. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that we certainly weren't expecting to see.

Back in 2006, The View suffered a big loss when Meredith Vieira headed on to The Today Show. Barbara announced Rosie O'Donnell would be the new moderator that was definitely a big change and one that seemed like it could add a breath of fresh air to the table. Unfortunately, Rosie only seemed to bring drama and negativity to the show from the moment she began. She carried her seemingly never ending feud with Donald Trump into the new year, eventually causing her to clash with Barbara Walters herself and it was all downhill from there. The tensions between Rosie and the other women only got worse as she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck started seriously squabbling, bringing things to a head when Rosie attacked Elisabeth and called her ignorant. The aftermath made speculative headlines about the fate of the show, but in the end Rosie decided to leave The View. The combination of her desire to hog headlines and lose her temper even scored her a spot on our poll for most annoying celebrity of 2007 but we hope that 2008 will be a calmer year in the life of Rosie where she can save her rants for her personal blog.

I don't think either Rosie and Elizabeth were right. They are both on the extreme side of their beliefs and views. And for all you people on here who disagree with Pop and think it was Elizabeth who is wrong than you are no "better" (I use that loosely cause I don't think Pop did anything wrong). Both of them are pig headed and ignorant. You should be able to debate you views and beliefs while still listening to another persons. Each person is entitled to their own.

I ♥ Rosie!! On a side note, not a very fair way of writing the article!

Even if you don't agree with Elisabeth Hassselbeck, she stands behind what she says on a show where she's placed with media veterans. I have never been a Rosie fan, even when she was in love with Tom Cruise and was the "Queen of Nice". She's abrasive and crude. And calling someone "ignorant" is an opinion statement, not a fact, regardless of how you spin it.

but it does seem odd to blame people who were there all along for problems that erupt when a new person comes on the show.actually jen, elizabeth has been in an argument with every single co host on the show and this was pre rosie.

Who wrote this piece? Bill O'Reilly? Since when did Popsugar become a conservative website? Sorry Lainetm, but America is waking up (finally) to the disastrous, imperialist nature of our invasion and occupation in Iraq. Less than half the population would agree with Elizabeth Hasselback on the merits of our occupation. Why do you think Bush has the some of the lowest approval ratings of any president, ever? If this is the kind of editorial content this website is going to publish, instead of the superfluous, vain fluff that I'm looking for in a website like this, with a name like Popsugar, then maybe it should change its name.

I don't normally watch The View, I'm at work. I do catch the stories when they erupt, though. One recurring theme I've seen is that Rosie is an intolerant, venomous diva. Joy is not much better. Elizabeth is much more representative of most of America.

I've never watched the show, but it does seem odd to blame people who were there all along for problems that erupt when a new person comes on the show. :? Doesn't it just make sense that new problems are likely from the new person...?In any event, I'm really not a fan of Rosie. Even when I agree with her, I really don't like the way she conducts herself.

Everyone commenting is either team Rosie or Elizabeth. I actually can't stand either of them. I think they're both annoying and need to shut up!! I just can't stand it when people are SO opinionated & ignorant that they can't even listen to someone else's point of view. I don't like the show anyway though :3

I loved Rosie on "The View." Her heart was always in the right place. She's charismatic and funny.Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Elisabeth. She's immature and obnoxious, not to mention irrational and unintelligent. She gives conservatives a bad name. Right now, she's on maternity leave. I don't miss her at all.I hope that she leaves "The View," and they would find an intelligent, mature conservative to take her spot.

Wow, you really don't like her do you? Loud? Yes. Emotional? Yes. Opinionated? Yes. Well, I guess I think that's how strong people are supposed to be. I may not agree with every single thing she says but I admire her and wish her well. I haven't watched The View since she left!

I actually stopped watching the View when Rosie came on. She is the ignorant one. Always cramming her "view" in your face. Hasselbeck is the only one on the show I ever agree with. I didn't think anyone could out annoy Behar, but at least for the most part she keeps things more light-hearted than Rosie did. Rosie actually makes Whoopie bearable. I'm not watching again 'til Elizabeth is back.

I watched the View a lot and Rosie was actually the most enjoyable View member to watch. She was the most pleasant, even while talking about controversial issues, and the guests seemed most comfortable with her. I was very sad to see her go. She had a couple moments, I agree, but she was funny and for the most part more mature than the others.Elizabeth is ignorant, I agree with that as well. I wish they would bring in someone else but I don't think the other women want a smart conservative to deal with.
