American Idol Top 8

American Idol Inspired!

Finally! An entertaining episode where almost all of the performances were worth watching! The group inspired me to vote last night.

  • Michael Johns "Dream On" = excellent!
  • Syesha hit the high notes, but I was not a fan of her Fanstasia song choice.
  • Jason Castro knows how to pick 'em. Great song choice and performance!
  • Kristy Lee stepped it up. Her looks are what will keep her in, but her voice actually proved to be excellent this week.
  • David Cook was good but sadly not as memorable as weeks past.
  • Carly picked a great song, but I am just not that into her.
  • David Archuleta will win over even more fans than his already huge following. It was the first song of his I have really liked in a while.
  • Brooke continues to be all sunshine and puppies. Clearly she is all about being happy and did her best Gwyneth Paltrow lookalike impression paired with that soft sweet voice. It's marketing gold.

To read a more in-depth recap click here and don't forget to vote off who you think will be sent home. Since it's Idol Gives Back week, we're thinking they may not do the elimination round like last year, but if there is a bottom three then I am guessing Carly, Syesha, and David Cook (sorry, buddy, but your time has come to feel the heat). The real mystery of the night isn't about who will be booted off but what was going on with Paula's boobs. Poor things looked in pain.

orisugar- you are SPOT ON about David Cook. I CANNOT stand him- he is so precious and obnoxious, but I have to admit he usually does a good job. This week, though, was unimaginably bad. I just could not believe what I was hearing. I was so excited to see Jason do well. I have LOVED that arrangement for a long time and it was awesome to hear him do it justice.

Brooke was BORING, the song is/was boring, she needs to go after that one. David Cook did not do justice to that Our Lady Peace song, which is such a great one! Sayesha sounded better than Fantasia (who I never was a fan of)...but horrible, horrible choice to do any song that was originated by another idol. Top picks for this week are David Archuleta, Jason Castro, and Kristy Lee.

Ok lets recap shall we?Michael Johns: I didn't care much for his performance, he basically sounds the same every time, and it seems like he's always imitating another artist. Did NOT like the weird banshee style singing towards the end. Sayesha M: She is so arrogant and this comes through in her song choices. Someone needs to convince her that she cannot take on giant songs because she isn't that great of a singer. Also, she was a bit of a sass mouth to randy which i think will cost her votes. AND she revealed nobody likes her because Ramielle was the only one who "got" her. Lastly, why o why pick a previous idol coronation song? Bye Bye Sayesha. Jason Castro: Loved his performance. gorgeous choice of song and arrangement. I'm proud of him, he definitely came out strong tonight after all the heavy criticism he has been getting.Kristy Lee: she was actually pretty good tonight...never thought I'd say this. Excellent choice of song for her- vocally and message wise. David Cook: OMG what the hell was he thinking? I never believed he could sound this bad! He seemed so smug while singing like he thought had already won...but guess what buddy? You have not won yet and this performance is gonna lose you some votes. Carly: constipated, constipated and finally, CONSTIPATED. Ok, and note to all idol contestants- please don't blame on any of the judges faces if you suck? David Archuleta: GREAT choice of song and moving performance! He sounds absolutely amazing when he is doing the high notes but he needs to work on his low register. But overall, brilliant performance. Brooke: ughhh...I was so unmoved by her performance (and i always get emotional hearing the original)...what is with all the tears??? Give me a break...I think she's a fake. And I don't think her vocals are that great. She should be worried.

Jason Castro's performance rocked! I think Syesha will get voted off, but Kristy Lee Cook still needs to go.

Blech to ALL of them, even my favorite Brooke let me down. The ONLY one that was even REMOTELY good was Carly, and that was until she looked at Simon. After that it was all downhill. Send 'em ALL home!

I don't mind little David's singing. I actually think he's got a really nice voice when he belts it out. My favorite all around is the Aussie (looks and singing) and I do like David Cook's singing but his looks and semi-pompous tude - not so much. Still, all that said, I'm hoping for a David A, David C, Michael Johns - Top 3.

I watching last night and my hubby walks in and and says "what the heck is wrong with Paula's boobs?" hahaha :ROTFL: Last night was not his best but I still love David Cook. I wish he and Michael Johns could both win.

I agree with you Zombielove....I wasn't watching the same show. Michael Johns and David Cook are my favorites and they both did bad! I can't get into little David Archuleta, I just don't see it.

David Cook absolutely murdered that Our Lady Peace song! I think the bottom 3 will be Sayesha, Brooke and Carly with Sayesha going home. I must admit the only one I ff'd through (hint = always DVR AI for a much more enjoyable watching experience) was Sayesha.

I agree Zombielove! I didn't really like anyone except Jason and lil' David Archuleta... I was pretty disappointed overall. My hope is that, tomorrow, Carly goes. I have never liked her.

The song that David Archuleta sang, that was a Jessica Simpson song right? Or did she just cover that?

They are not voting anyone off tonight. They are having elimination night tomorrow and Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown will be on, I can't wait.

Ugh, I actually found David Cook annoying last night, and I usually like him a lot. I think the bottom three will be all girls again. Syesha, Carly and Brooke. I did enjoy most performances last night, I liked the inspirational songs, none were too cheesy.

were we watching the same show? i thought they ALL sucked. Even my beloved, David Cook. The only good one I thought was Jason.
