Blake Lively is on the cover of Bullett magazine's new issue, and inside the edition, she spoke about her past and future career. She's looking forward to the Summer release of her Oliver Stone movie Savages, as well as the end of her long run on the CW series Gossip Girl. Since wrapping the last season of the show, Blake and boyfriend Ryan Reynolds have been spending a great deal of time together. She didn't discuss him in the interview, but did touch on why she acts only to please herself. Here are highlights from Blake Lively in Bullett:
- On the way she builds relationships: "The way that I meet people is the same way that I've always met people. It might be weird if I was on JDate, but I'm not, so that's good. I meet so many people in passing at parties, but I've never been a person who's like, I know I just met you, but let's exchange numbers and be best friends."
- On being ready to move on from Gossip Girl: "It'll be bittersweet when it's over because it gave me all of this. I think the best way to describe it is like someone who really enjoyed high school, and is like, I'm a senior and I can't wait for the next thing! Gossip Girl was so great, but what's the next challenge in life? Because, you know, six years is a long time. And as an actor who plays a caricature of myself on the show, I don't think I'd say, 'Watch Gossip Girl for my best quality of work. But I am very lucky to have had that experience."
- On only really working to please herself: "I'm not in the business of trying to win the approval of my cast members, my director, or my audience. If I were, I'd be so beaten down by insecurity that I'd never be able to perform. The only person I'm trying to prove something to is myself."
