While the rest of us were in the grips of Halloween, the cast of Modern Family was busy filming a Christmas episode. The stars of the ABC comedy were joined by a very special guest on set this week. Bryan Cranston, fresh off his epic Breaking Bad series-finale success, took his seat in the director's chair. The man formerly known as Heisenberg is technically returning to the spot, since he directed an episode of Modern Family in 2012. We can glean some information about the holiday episode from the photos that some of the cast members have shared on social media, starting with the fact that Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter — who play sisters Haley and Alex Dunphy — have clearly gotten seasonal jobs at Santa's Village in the nearby mall. Sarah shared a snap of the two dressed as an elf and Mrs. Claus as the cast shot scenes at Westside Pavilion in LA. While there, Eric Stonestreet also posted a photo of him and Bryan sitting on Santa's lap with the caption "Ho Ho Heisenberg."
Though Breaking Bad came to an end a full month ago, Bryan doesn't seem to be shy about channeling his iconic character Walter White at his current job. In the video below, which Jesse Tyler Ferguson shared on Instagram, Bryan hilariously channels the bygone drug dealer with Jesse, Eric, and their onscreen daughter Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, bellowing, "I'm just trying to protect this family."
