It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Charlie Day gave the surprise hit commencement speech of the graduation season when he visited his alma mater, Merrimack College, on Sunday to talk to students on their big day. The actor was first given an honorary doctorate, which he joked about, saying that Dr. Charlie Day "sounded like some sort of club DJ." However, he also opened up about his struggles as an actor and writer after graduating college and how he was faced with a tough decision when he was offered a role on a pilot (Life on a Stick) while developing what would eventually become his hit FX show with his friends. "Do I do Life on a Stick? Or do I make another bet on myself? And this time, my friends, too," Charlie recalled. "Do I make no money?" He then encouraged students to take those scary risks as they enter the working world. "You are capable of greatness in your profession and more importantly in your quality of self. Stay young at heart. Stay hungry. Take those risks." Watch the funny and touching speech above, and don't forget to check out more memorable celebrity commencement speeches from over the years.
