Chris Brown Withdraws His Name From Kids Choice Ballots

Should Chris Brown Be On The Kids' Choice Awards Ballot?

After much talk about Chris Brown's nomination at the Kids' Choice Awards, the singer's name has been withdrawn from the competition. He recently updated his MySpace asking for votes, and just yesterday Nick said it was planning to let the kids decide. There are conflicting reports about whether it was Chris or the network that pulled his name, but today his rep released a statement saying:

"Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated. While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so"

The awards take place March 28. So what do you think — should Chris Brown be on the Kids' Choice Awards Ballot?

I am really disappointed with the way that this is being handled overall. This is a serious issue. Rihanna is a loser for going back. People around him are losers for supporting him. Step up EVERYONE and make a good example of yourself.

NO - I am glad he was removed from the ballot, but it came too late in my opinion. Who wants this guy at a kid's choice award show?!?!?

It's a clear no. I'm surprised it took him this long to back out.

Did he smarten up and withdraw himself? Or did his PR force him? Either way, it'd be a bad example if this douchebag shows up at a kids award show.

That statement is such BS. "Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music" -- as though Chris were the victim in this situation! That "incident" was him beating up his girlfriend, so I'd say the "controversy surrounding" it was justified. How terrible that we're not concerned chiefly with his art anymore. Poor baby. From now on his rep should release only the following statement: "My client beat up a woman. He gets what he deserves."

No, he just needs to stay away for awhile, and get some counseling. I just can't look at him the same way anymore.
