Danny DeVito Talks About "Very Smart" Taylor Swift and a Possible Run For Office

Danny DeVito leads the cast of 3D animated characters in the upcoming adaption of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax. He voices The Lorax, a mythical creature sent to protect the forest of Truffula Trees against Ed Helms's character, the Once-ler. We sat down with Danny at the film's LA junket and he shared his thoughts on the "sweet" Taylor Swift, and what we might see next season on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She's so sweet, Taylor. It was really thrilling to meet her. Yeah, maybe I'll have to run for office. Okay, so Danny, so, is this your first 3D film? Yeah, this is my first 3D film. Oh, it's exciting. Have you been able to see this film with kids? Yes, I did. Well, not with kids. Not with kids? No, I'm looking forward to that. I saw it on my own with a couple of friends. I was looking forward to coming to you, meeting you, hearing your voice. I was very excited about it. And now you and Ed kind of, share a lot of your scenes together. Ed helps, yeah. As the one, sir, in The Lorax. Yes. So, did you guys get to do any improv together? No, we didn't get to see each other. Never saw each other? No. There are a couple of ways they do these things and this was the one where you didn't get to see the other actors. Things like the Simpsons or something, they do it all in a circle with all the actors, this is like, very singular So that you didn't improv in this, but I heard you are going back to the stage and working on a stage production. I am going to London to do the Sunshine Boys. A revival of the Sunshine Boys. Can you tell me a little bit more about that, and your play? It's a comedy, it's Neil Simon, and it's very funny. And I'm looking forward to going on the stage again. I play Willie Clark, who's a guy, who was a vaudeville star with his partner and hasn't, in eleven years they haven't spoken to each other. And they there's an opportunity to get them together again, but they're like kind of oil and water. Can you tell me where we'll find the guys and the gang, the Paddy's Pub gang? Well, we're going to start back up in July and we are going to really let it all go. What do you think? What I might find them? Oh, I think it's gonna get - Oh, my God. It's just going to be, you know, hey, you know It depends on what happens between now and then too, in the news. With an election coming up, too though. Yeah, maybe I'll have to run for office. Taylor Swift said today was her first junket. Did you her give any advice? You've done that, kinda do. She's so sweet Taylor. It was really thrilling to meet her today. I just met her but she's very good in the movie and she seems to me as a person, a young person who really will grasp everything. She's very smart. And maybe you two will have a chance to work together. Maybe we will. Or maybe she'll put you in one of her songs. Maybe she will.
