Sheryl Sandberg Shares a Heartfelt Note About Her Late Husband

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg honored her late husband, Dave Goldberg, on Tuesday. Following Dave's burial, Sheryl opened up about their life as spouses and parents. "Dave and I did not get nearly enough time together," she wrote on Facebook. "But as heartbroken as I am today, I am equally grateful. Even in these last few days of completely unexpected hell — the darkest and saddest moments of my life — I know how lucky I have been. If the day I walked down that aisle with Dave someone had told me that this would happen — that he would be taken from us all in just 11 years — I would still have walked down that aisle."

Dave died at the age of 47 after reportedly suffering severe head trauma on Friday. As the CEO of SurveyMonkey, he was a familiar face in the tech community. His brother Robert Goldberg reached out to those who knew him in a Facebook post on Saturday, writing that Dave "passed away suddenly last night." Robert asked people to help Dave's wife, children, and family cope with the passing by respecting their privacy and posting "memories and pictures of Dave to his Facebook profile." The thoughtful note was accompanied by photos of Dave with wife Sheryl.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is among the group of users who shared the beautiful pictures, writing, "Dave Goldberg was an amazing person and I am glad I got to know him."
