Do You Still Get Excited For the Grammys?

Award season rolls on this Sunday with the Grammys. It seems like anticipation for this show has lessened over the past few years, with lower ratings and fewer exciting surprises — not to mention that the Oscars are only two weeks away.

This year's lineup is pretty stellar with tons of exciting performances and a star-studded red carpet so it could be an exciting one. Tell us — are you still excited for the Grammys?

The Grammys are my favorite awards show because I love music. It wasn't that exciting tonight, though.

The Grammy's are voted on by members of the Recording Academy, which is made up of professionals in the industry; musicians, producers, writers, singers, etc. One needs to have 6 record credits to become a voting member of the academy. Everyone probably feels there are nominees who don't deserve it, since this is made up of people across all genres of music and most of us don't listen to all the different types of music. Radio play has nothing to do with Grammy nominations.

I am "awards-showed" out quite frankly. That said I may flip to the occasional performance, but that is not even getting me pumped.

I like watching the red carpet and the performances, but I never watch the Grammy's (or any award show for that matter) from start to finish. I am a bit disappointed with the Grammy's this year - how are the Jonas Brothers nominated but Leona Lewis is not?!?

Nope, I never have gotten excited about these types of award shows.

Nope, not interested, but I DO want Coldplay to at least win something...

i don't get excited for any of the award shows really, i find them boring and just look up the performances i want to see and the fashion online afterwards!

i do and it's always for the performances rather than the winners. i think that we get to see some really great musicial duets that we don't usually expect..and that's the reason that i tune in.

Most people these days like to watch the performances. But alot more viewers probably disagree with the winners. I think because it seems so rigged sometimes. There are some artists that just don't deserve to be in ANY category at all. So many artists work hard and do a wonderful job, but they get no credit for it. Then there are those who have no originality at all, and they end up getting awards for their lack of work.

I don't care about the awards; something's fishy anyway... I just watch for the 'free' concerts

I've been disappointed in the last few years in the nominations. Two years in a row Paul McCartney was nominated for best male artist when his songs weren't even played on the radio. I think that there's an "old boy" cronyism going on. I like a lot of the artists this year. But I don't think that's fair when artists are left out of the nominations because someone has extra influence over the nominations.

Well like you said Pop its the most prestigious award show for music and I love music. I just don't get that excited about this show. I do enjoy watching it but I am not on edge or excited like with all the acting award shows. I am sure there is a reason for that.
