Drew Barrymore Cuddles With a Supercute Red Carpet Date Before Being Honored by the ASPCA

Drew Barrymore was honored by the ASPCA at the 19th annual Bergh Ball in NYC on Thursday night. The inspiring actress, who has been a longtime lover and supporter of animals, looked radiant on the red carpet as she posed with an adorable rescue dog. Inside, Drew took her seat with host Nathan Lane and Martha Stewart, who presented Drew with the humanitarian award for her ongoing efforts.

Drew took the podium to give a heartfelt speech about love and loss — while she made no mention of her recent split from husband Will Kopelman, she did tell the crowd about one of the other loves of her life: her late dog, Flossie. While writing her book Wildflower, Drew said, "The chapter that made me cry the hardest while writing, I couldn't even type on the keys, because I couldn't get clarity in my eyes from the tears just falling, was a chapter called 'Flossie,' about my dog who I had for 16 years." She went on to talk about "the unspoken gift" that animals have given her, saying, "I don't have it in my heart to be rude, mean, cruel, unkind to any person on the planet, let alone an animal."

After the event, Drew was spotted holding hands with her date, InStyle editorial director Ariel Foxman. Her exciting night out comes just a couple of weeks after announcing that she and Will Kopelman are planning to divorce after nearly four years of marriage.
