Director Ang Lee won the Golden Lion trophy at the Venice Film Festival this weekend.
The Taiwanese writer-director called his movie a "great American love story" whose theme is "unique and universal" because it challenges old-fashioned concepts of masculinity and homosexuality. Based on a novella by The Shipping News author E. Annie Proulx and starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain tells the tale of a Wyoming ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy who meet in the summer of 1963 and forge a loving, lasting relationship despite their conservative upbringings.
Can't wait to see these two together. Congrats to Brokeback Mountain!
