Fergie Opens Up About Her Indiscretions in Elle — Awkward or Not?

Fergie is on the cover of Elle's May issue, which hits newsstands on April 14. Inside the magazine, she takes a stroll down memory lane to revisit her hairstyles from the past and her clothing evolution. Fergie also touched on some personal issues, including how she behaved during past relationships before meeting her husband Josh Duhamel. She said:

“I’m a relationship girl, a romantic. When I was younger, I used to be the cheater. I’m not talking about going all the way — I wasn’t doing that in high school! But I’d have boyfriends, and then spring break would come around and I’d be a little bit naughty.”

It's interesting timing for Fergie to address the issue of infidelity after Josh was accused of having an affair with an Atlanta stripper last year. One might think Fergie would avoid the topic entirely, but instead she's confronting the rumors head on. So, tell us what you think of Fergie's quote — is it awkward or not?

What? She's talking about when she was a teenager, how would that be awkward and have anything at all to do with rumours in her marriage? All these posts about celebrity interviews being offending or awkward are getting a bit old, popsugar, and clearly you're reading way too much into the answers.

i don't know if she brought up the cheating subject to mock the rumors about her own marriage or if she is trying to "prove" that Josh didn't cheat by talking about it so freely. whatever the reason this is awkward.

She's talking about 15+ years ago not today. She's not addressing cheating rumors at all. Talk about reading too much into nothing.

I agree with jaan_black. It's not over-sharing in my opinion. It's just being honest. I never imagined myself marrying any of the guys I dated in my late teens/early 20s and probably flirted up a storm with any cute boys I met when I was out with my friends. However, again it's all in the phrasing: "I used to be the cheater". Not "a cheater"(in general), but "the cheater". That difference is not too subtle to me. One could say it implies that there is a *current* cheater (in her life).

Well, that they used to be cheaters, but still...

I think it's awkward simply because no one should be announcing they're cheaters. I'm gonna sound really old, but where are the morals of these people?

...that was not tmi...using the phrase "used to be the cheater" may be a dig at her husband since he would be the current cheater in the relationship?!? who knows
