Things get weird. Things get experimental. If you thought vampire sex in Twilight was intense you have not seen anything yet. Hi . I'm Shannon Vestal. I'm Becky Kirsch and we're the editors of BuzzSugar. In this week's episode of The Buzz, we're looking at Fifty Shades of Grey because this book is everywhere. Becky now has read all the books so she's kind of my Fifty Shades of Grey expert. So I want to know how did this all start? Well, first of all I think you need to give it more than just a few chapters before you make a decision. Does take a little bit of time to get into. All right. So, it actually started as fan fiction, and if you're not familiar with fan fiction, basically it's when fans take characters that they've come to really like and start putting them into their own stories like Harry Potter on this case we have Twilight, so the other E L James took Bella and Edward and put them in a very different story, a little kinkier and what we see in Twilight eventually once the story became so popular she changed their names to Christian and Anastasia. So are there any other parallels between Twilight and Fifty Shades Of Grey besides just the characters? Well, I mean there's not too many, it's not like super natural or anything like that, but they do have the same strong intense connection between each other and the sort of carnal traction, and there is sort of a Jacob, best friend love interest. Not really love interest, actually, in this one as much as in Twilight. But he is there. And I think as everyone knows by now. One of the biggest differences is that Fifty Shades of Grey has a lot of sex, and not as Christian would call it, vanilla sex. Things get weird, things get experimental, things get very S and M, right? Well, everything is actually BDSM is the proper term. Sorry. But if you thought vampire sex in the Twilight films was intense, you have not seen anything yet. All right. Well, wiith all the hype surrounding the sex scenes in this book, my major question is if it wasn't in there would the story still be compelling? Well, you know, I think the sex scenes is definitely the reason why so many people are picking up this book. I don't think it would have the same following without it. And you know this is not great American novel there is lot over used words and cheesy things like references to Ana's inner goddess which gets a little eye rolling at her quite sometimes. So I don't think it would take off the same way without it. Alright, so we know that it has it's shortcomings but it has this crazy fan followingputting lots of people in Hollywood. Ryan Seacrest has talked about it. Apparently, John Mayer used it to hit on somebody, you know, kinda weird. That's not very such a John Mayer thing to do. And also I guess Ellen DeGeneres has read from it on her show, right? Yeah, let's take a look at what celebrities have been saying about it. Fifty Shades of Grey. Oh, goodness. Fifty Shades of Grey, that S and M book? I'm kinda dying to read it. I got carded when I bought Fifty Shades of Grey. I sang one of the pages of Fifty Shades of Grey. Oh, my gosh. He guides his hands across my secret garden. I'm into it because I have to be, right, wink wink nudge nudge, I'm loving it. I've seen people read this on airplanes, and I'm always like, "Eww". It is crazy, wild! Thank God there are no pictures in here. Well, the other reason why everyone is talking about Fifty Shades is that It's in the very early stages of being made into a movie. Lots of actors are already throwing their names into the ring, and just recently the writer Bret Easton Ellis said that he wanted to adapt it, and he wanted to bring David Cronenberg to direct it, which I think actually sounds like an awesome idea. So, I'm kinda wondering from you, how do you think this is gonna work as a movie? Especially with all the sex. I actually think it might be much Better as a movie, mostly because, you know, like I said, it's not the most compelling story on the page. But I think on screen with the right actors, you know, you might be able to really feel the chemistry. In which case the sex scenes may not need to be as explicit if you have a stronger love story. Also I mean, let's face it, they probably don't want an NC-17 rating. And, if you're really gonna to stay very true to the book, you're going to have a porn move and I don't think that's what they're going for. So then the other big question would be who is going to play Christian and Anna? I do. Well I mean, of course I do. I mean, they haven't picked anyone yet, I mean, still in the very early stages, but for me, I would pick Ryan Gosling. I would pick him to be the lead in any movie that I was casting just because I think, you know, he's a really great actor. He's very dreamy. He has that kind of can do the smoldering thing, and I don't know, he's also in the right age range, which is 27. I think they might actually end up making him a little bit older, because it's hard to find someone in that exact age range, so we'll see. And what about Anna? I don't have as many ideas for her but I think Lucy Helm might be good who's on Pretty Little Liars. I would just like to see someone who isn't as expose you to a little more unknown. So, final verdict. Is Fifty Shades of Grey worth reading? I'm gonna say yes, just because it's become such a big pop culture phenomenon, it's only gonna get bigger as the movie news draws closer and at this point you probably have a friend that's already read it and you can borrow it from them. And you don't necessarily have to read all three. But I will say not really for public reading because now that everyone knows about it they're going to judge you. That is good advice, but let us know in the comments if you've read Fifty Shades of Grey and what you think of all this movie news. I'm Shannon Vestal and I'm Becky Kirsch and thanks for watching The Buzz.

I'm not racing home to read it every night, but I am slowly plugging away (on book two now). In the end, I like to stay on top of the happenings in pop culture, which is why I am sticking to it!

@Angelica and her "subconscious" — two different "people" I gather, but both overused!

like a herd of sheep , because they tell you to read it, sorry you are mindless puppets following a Trend , omgomgomg ...I read something about BDSM ,how lovely, I want a Christian for myself , these statement show exactly you lost your mind. Reading Trash is one thing and maybe entertaining, but reading 3 Books of Trash is a sad statement , SO TO ALL THE MRS SPRINGERS OUT THERE try some erotic reading where the characters are not stolen from a Teenage Saga , a story what actual enhances your view , like Anne Rice " Beauty Series" To all the cougars out there , you are not 21 and Ana

I've heard the overuse of "like" and "wow" will annoy me so I'm not spending a dime on this trash, I'll borrow my friend's ;)

The writing is horrible, but that didn't stop me (and hundreds of thousands of other people) from devouring them...there is a time and place for almost any story.   The comment below makes us sound like mindless puppets for wanting to see what all the fuss is about, but I have no shame admitting that FSOG is a great 'beside the pool' read. I can agree with the review that without the crazy sex, it probably wouldn't work.

Perfect to stir away from Hunger, crashing housing Markets, declining education ( this is why it's so popular in the first place) deflation and being horn y . This overhyped nonsense with these awful characters , one a doormat the other one " Hot," is the perfect example that we stopped thinking and making decision , we follow a trend because we are manipulated idiots. If you really want to read a Love Story with a deeper meaning, read something what doesn't consists with a girl who would do whatever it takes not to loose a clearly disturbed , but hot guy, and a real man who doesn't present her with a contract without even knowing she is a virgin, so PATHETIC . This Book is so cheap that I can't even hate it  but wipe my Butt with the pages

Okay, the story line was good. The books, overall, were quite boring. Ana kept repeating herself and the inner goddess got on my damned nerves. Christian kept insisting that Anna eat. Too much redundancy, WOW!!! Some parts of the trilogy, sounded like a teenager wrote it. No offense to the author, but, the writing was not very good. One last thing.... I'm all for any kind of sex, but, who has sex 4 or 5 times a day. Yeah, right! You ask why did  I read all three books??? Because I paid $29.99 and I wanted to attempt to get my money's worth. A movie adaptation to be made, with Ryan Gosling and Scarlett Johansson, you say.I truly hope not, cause Ryan Gosling is no Christian Grey and ScarJo isn't Anastacia Steele. Try Matt Bomer and Emmy Rossum. At any rate, it's Twilight shit, all over again and I'm a Twihard!!!! Enough already!!!!!

I loved all 3 books ... I refused to read it because all the fuzz but i felt into it .. I think yes there´s Kinky fuckery (as christian said) but there´s a love story behind , and some drama and thrill ... it has everything perhaps this book wont get a prize for the book of the year , but it really give you some fun moments! I love the chemistry between the character and I love the fact this girl have more voice than Bella , love her inner goddess and her subconscious.... For the movie I cant imagine anyone else than Henry Cavil and I will have to stick with Kristen Stweart.. and yes I will agree with the popsugar editor you have to read it in private coz now everyone knows about it and think u r reading it coz ur inner goddess love Kinky fuckery

If FSOG wasn't worth it, would this article even exist? Its not supposed to be the next high literary piece of writing, it's a fantasy that people are indulging in.

This book kind of reminds me of watching Red Shoe Diaries which I admit sucked me when it was airing on tv. I think the reaction from this book by so many women reveals that we all need a little more fantasy in our life, for me it's 50 shades of shoes that really gets me hot, but that's just me.

Oye, the "Inner goddess" references made me cringe!

Oh my gosh, yes, "inner goddess!" I agree, I definitely did a big eye roll every time I read that reference. I wasn't a huge fan of the book, but I am glad I read it just to know what all the hype was about.
