Halle Berry and Nahla Aubry teamed up for a midday stop at an LA grocery store yesterday. The duo left with a cart full of fresh items, though Nahla was spotted snacking on a candy necklace. Halle's been getting into the Halloween spirit in addition to prepping for the Oct. 26 release of Cloud Atlas. She shares the big screen with Tom Hanks in the high-concept film and both are expected to be on hand for the LA premiere on Oct. 24. Early reviews of Cloud Atlas have been harsh, but according to Halle, she follows her gut when choosing new projects. She spoke to InStyle about her career, as well as her upcoming marriage to Olivier Martinez.
Here are highlights from Halle Berry in InStyle:
- On going with her gut: "Throughout my career I have been talked out of things I wanted to do, and when I look back I think, I should have followed my instincts. I relied on others to guide me because I thought they knew better. But as I've gotten older, I've learned to trust myself."
- On getting to know Olivier: "When I first met Olivier, there wasn't the initial 'I'm in love!' It was something that grew more gradually — and it feels more real because of that."
- On agreeing to marry him: "It's another one of those never-say-never things. I'm a hopeless romantic, and I won't stop till I get it right! . . . He's silly, a clown, and very much the life of the party, which is good for someone like me. Danny Downer . . . been there, done that. Now I like Louie Lightfoot!"
